Who is for the electronic strike zone? Utah... Lol... He loved it. I think it’s time... The equipment has tested well in industry. One concern I would have is that RFID has a significant failure rate when subjected to water, so umps might have to take over in rainy circumstances... Whoa, that’s a set back. Of course, in those cases, the umps would serve as the strike zone relievers.

Of course, in those cases, the umps would serve as the strike zone relievers. Probably only in a pretty aggressive rain. I worked with RFID extensively when it was still relatively new technology. Metal was also a detriment, but we had to figure out water and metal at the time. Maybe MLB will hire me to debug it...I did it in that instance, taking a system that was functioning at under 80% to 99%... A third detriment was equipment noise, like humming motors and fluorescent lights (they’ll soon be gone), and competing radio signals... Perhaps some of that has been debugged by now, perhaps not...

another issue with an automated strike zone would be finding ways to cheat the system

This game deserves better umpiring than this.

He’s not the same pitcher he was earlier this year. Maybe he was extremely lucky earlier this year I don’t know. He seemed legit but they are sitting on his FB and change and hammering it. This is how the disintegration Of Severino started.. Tipping his pitches, to be followed by surgery... I hate to say it but German just isn’t as good as he seemed earlier this year. He has good breaking stuff but his FB and change are average pitches. He had some good luck earlier this year but he isn’t what his W-L record or earlier ERA suggested he might be. He also is on an innings limit so winding him down soon isn’t a bad idea if they can get back Montgomery or sign Keuchel that’s a good idea.
