A lifetime of insomnia has taught me that sometimes nothing works. A couple nights ago I went to bed at around 11:30. By 12:00 I was wide awake so I got up. I was playing Spider Solitaire on the computer when I decided I was now tired enough to go to bed. As I rose from my office chair our smoke alarm went off, but only briefly. Of course that draws Ruthie out of bed and gets the dog annoyed, and I’m back to square one. I wound up going to sleep sometime between 4:30 when I last looked at the clock and the alarm I had set for 7:30. The next night? I went to sleep around 2:30...Same alarm time... |

Taking heavy sedatives works but then you're hungover the next day and they're habit forming and have terrible side effects. So I prefer not sleeping. |
