It is great to have Didi back but he is not yet hitting like he’s capable of hitting. When he gets on a hot streak it will be nice to see.

Not the best team a advancing the runners....without a home run anyhow You might want to check your facts there. Or not. But you’re not correct. I am not sure what facts you reference but its hard for me to believe there are many worse teams at hit and runs, bunting, and hitting the ball to the right side of the diamond to advance a runner than we are. How would I check that?

great play by Tauchman...and Didi was really running there...the first game he kind of ran-in-place going back for a popup...this was a much better effort..

Wow, the Yanks showing off the gloves in this inning. Almost makes up for the 3 errors.

I am not sure what facts you reference but its hard for me to believe there are many worse teams at hit and runs, bunting, and hitting the ball to the right side of the diamond to advance a runner than we are. How would I check that? They have been the best team in the American League this year and second best in all of MLB at hitting with runners in scoring position. That’s a fact, not opinion. It doesn’t comport with the compliant that they only advance runners when they hit HRs. And their success moving runners over and driving them in has been one of the primary stories covered related to this team this year. So the complaint makes it sound like you don’t know what you’re talking about. Whether they’re good at hit and runs, etc isn’t really relevant. This team shouldn’t be using a hit and run or a bunt very often if the goal is to score runs, and they’ve been exceptionally good at scoring runs this season despite missing most of their regular lineup. Those aren’t opinions.

I am not sure what facts you reference but its hard for me to believe there are many worse teams at hit and runs, bunting, and hitting the ball to the right side of the diamond to advance a runner than we are. How would I check that? If you go to ESPN team batting stats and click on expanded stats you’ll see that the Yankees are 21st in MLB in sacrifice hits (bunts), But do have 5 TIMES MORE than the two teams that are actually worse. The Yanks are 12th in MLB in sacrifice flies. That’s a start, Russ. If you consider that the influx of strikeouts has almost rendered the hit and run obsolete, I would think that you need only watch a few other teams play (just what our opponents do against us would be enough) to see that the art of the hit and run as well as hitting behind the runner are dying strategies. As to why, and as to whether or not that should be the case, trams keep massive amounts of information about success and failure rates that I doubt that you (or any of us) keep. They have statistical backup for their choices...
