I thought almost every Yankee fan would have had Jeter as a fav while he was playing... Its not really skill that causes me to identify with a player. Just something about them. For whatever reason Jeter seemed colorless to me, a great machine but not something that drew my attention. That likely is another of my minority views Have to agree with you there, noetsi....It is likely a minority view.

The board needs someone to disagree with. Its no fun and drives low posting numbers if everyone is in lockstep. That is my role here...to disagree and thus make post totals higher

Guys who played with passion but were not always under control. Don't get me wrong I loved Jeter, but he was an emotional robot. Mantle and Mattingly will always be my favorites. Mantle because he's the one who made me a Yankee fan after being born in a Red Sox family and Mattingly because played the game so well and had so much fun doing it. Berra too, because he was so guileless.

I missed this game but arguing with Noetsi about bunting was always mr.gs biggest pet peeve. It's the biggest circular argument you will ever have.

That discussion should be like the political thread, where it’s confined to an area so as to make it an option to ruin your day or not... The thread could be called The Joy Of Bunting...

I don't know about gold, but something worthwhile found there, it seems....I don't think he has a long-term career with the Yankees, but maybe he has shown enough that some GM will use him to fill out a roster...I hope so at least..if inger is able to coax more out of him than he has shown offensively, he could indeed be the next Gardner as someone suggested....

Like a AAAA player that’s too good for AAA and not good enough to start, Tauchman may be too good to trade and not quite good enough to keep. I liken him a bit to Aaron Hicks a couple of years ago. I’d keep him unless another GM gets overly emanated with him...Looks like a nice player who could surprise. All he needs is confidence, and that should be growing by leaps and bounds...

He takes up a roster spot that will probably have to go when Stanton returns (if he returns and stays anyhow).
