Getting back to this game and this reality...
Offensively the team did well vs. Stroman, who was not at his best. Because he was not at his best the team was also able to survive some defensive foibles and put themselves in their current tentative position of having a two run lead. I’m pleased so far...

is that because Gardner is a Yankee who can bunt? because he tried hard and was good at fundamentals generally Who’s your favorite now?...

"In some games the situation exists where a bunt may make sense, but in many it does not." I agree entirely. Rizzuto I should have said advancing runners without a hit not home run. “...advancing runners without a hit, not home run.” I am confused. The Yankees are either proficient at advancing baserunners in comparison to other teams or not. Now, it appears you want information for how proficient they are, but only without getting a hit?

I am entranced with a kid from Columbia who bounced around the majors a bit with the whisper that he would never hit...and has absolutely blossomed into one of the best defensive 3B I have ever seen, and is hitting pretty well, thank you...
He seems to be a guy easy to root for as well.....

I think that’s fine. I’ve had many years where I’ve just enjoyed the team. In fact, that may be the perfect way to enjoy team sports...

Another reason to like gardner. His demonstrating laws of physics to school children by hurling his helmet against the wall
For every action there is an equal an opposite reaction.

Its not really skill that causes me to identify with a player. Just something about them. For whatever reason Jeter seemed colorless to me, a great machine but not something that drew my attention. That likely is another of my minority views
