Look at this: .315, 25 HR, 84 RBI. That is Xander Bogaert’s batting line thus far in 2019. He also has 37 doubles for an OPS + of 149. Is this a love-fest for Xander? No. I just wanted to point out those numbers, with a third of a season to go. Another 50 or so games and Bogaert will likely surpass 50 2B, 35 or so HR and 120-130 RBIs if he stays on the field and fully engaged with his team tumbling out of the race. (: Roy White’s best single season OPS + was exactly the same at 149. Yet, he hit .292, 19 HR, 84 RBI that season. That’s for the WHOLE SEASON. That gives some perspective on the kind of player Roy White was. On top of that he was an excellent LF whose major flaw was a light throwing arm...Which is common on LF. I know I never got back to working on our all time catchers yet (sorry)...But LF is a quiet position in Yankee lore. White is probably our best unless we cheat and move a CF to left (pretty likely) when we fill out our lineup card... As far as the catchers... some day... I haven't looked at any numbers, but Roy might get some competition from Bob Meusel, Charlie Keller and Hideki Matsui. I don't think Tim Raines was with the Yanks long enough to count, or he'd be in there. Lou Piniella? Without looking, I am not sure he would have the numbers. Gene Woodling played some solid LF, but again probably not there long enough. Rickey Henderson probably more games in CF, plus not with the Yankees that long. Roy White might get it just based on how much he played. At a very high level. Guess I should have saved this for the actual thread. Never save your bullets for a day that may never come. I think they all hit the mark...Great names that belong in the discussion...

“Marshall Dillon, Sam Travis is over to the Long Branch and I think there’s going to be trouble”. “Okay, Chester. We have to play this just right. You and I will go over there. I want you to peek over the doors for me. Just when Travis goes for his gun, you signal me so I can walk in and say HOLD IT! That one works every time.” “Golly, Matt. You sure do come up with the best ideas! It’s like you have a writer or somethin’ comin’ up with this stuff”... I like when Matt would tell a hot head with a gun, “Don’t be a fool!” I always liked how they dealt with rape on the show. “Doc, you need to check on the widow Crowley. Some cowboy broke into her shack and... well I’m afraid he gave her a real hard time of it”. Later: “Doc, How was the widow Crowley”? “I’m afraid you were right Matt, he gave her a real hard time of it”...
