I would like a manager with managerial experience that is well liked and respected by the players, can control the clubhouse, and will listen to the front office.
David Cone, Aaron Boone, Flaherty, Beltran and Hairston Jr do not fit the bill for me.
Right now I believe Eric Wedge, of the candidates listed, is the best one for the job.

It's been a while since Cashman hired a manager so I hope he's just getting in some interviewing practice with lame candidates like Wedge.

There seems to be some strong anti-Wedge sentiment on this forum. What did the guy do wrong? In 2007 he was at the helm of a 1st place team in Cleveland and was manager of the year. The team collapsed pretty quickly and he was let go. He had a second chance in Seattle, but never got the team off the ground in three years. That's about all I know about him. I actually thought he might be a decent candidate, but a couple of you have come down on him hard. Why? This inquiring reporter wants to know...

Odd that it doesn't seem like Pedrique is being seriously considered. Unless he is but the media isn't writing about it.

Odd that it doesn't seem like Pedrique is being seriously considered. Unless he is but the media isn't writing about it. I think he's the front-runner, but I also think Cashman wants to see who comes out of the woodwork and that he wants Pedrique have the feeling that he earned the job. (or anyone that wins it for that matter)... The one thing that I would like to see is an energetic and optimistic presence. I never felt energy nor optimism was a part of Girardi's make-up...I think Pedrique has those attributes. Who else might show them is a question that is outside of my knowledge of most of the candidates...I think Bobby Mitchell will emerge as a candidate at some point as well after his success at AA Trenton the past two years. I'm more in favor of promoting from within since the organization is so youth-oriented and so many of the players that are already in NY or soon will be have already played for those managers, learned the game under them, and from all I understand have a great deal of respect for them. Why let managers like that get away and go elsewhere to reach the majors???

Why do you think Pedrique is the front runner when he doesn't even have an interview? Unless Cashman is being super stealthy for no reason?

meulens and boone said to have had great interviews. my guess is itll be meulens. he speaks 5 languages and has experience coaching. he seems the best fit. maybe we could get 2 guys and make the other the bench coach?
