In case anyone missed the Kenny Singleton factoid: Mike Ford has played 13 games in the big leagues. He has reached base safely in all 13 games.

Figuring out how to beat the 3 Houston aces will be the key. It will help a lot to stay ahead of them in the regular season to get home field advantage.

Figuring out how to beat the 3 Houston aces will be the key. It will help a lot to stay ahead of them in the regular season to get home field advantage. I'm pretty confident the Yankees will finish with the best record in the AL. The biggest thing is keeping Boston out of the playoffs. They are a scary matchup in the division series round because they don't suffer from the Yankee Stadium disadvantage like a lot of teams do. They have fallen a bit back so hopefully they stay there, but I like the Yankees chances better in the DS round against anyone else but them. As you said though getting by Houston is the biggest challenge (I can't really see the Twins/Indians giving the Astros much of a challenge). Potential DS matchups if the Yankees get the first seed are TB, MIN, CLE, OAK. Those teams don't scare me a much as Houston does. In fact Houston and the Yankees are both 15 games over .500 against +.500 teams. Followed by the A's 5 above .500 against +.500 teams, Twins are exactly .500 vs +.500 teams. Rest of the AL is sub .500 vs +.500 teams. As far as the NL LAD are 15 above, Braves are 5 above, Brewers are 4 above, Cubs are 1 above. Phillies and Arizona are even. So the NL is a bit more wide open, but most likely Houston is the biggest opponent for the Yankees road to the World Series.

Sorry, men. It doesn’t matter because we’re not “built for the post season”... the generic view is that pitching is the key to the post season not hitting The “generic view” is a bunch of old sayings that don’t necessarily hold up under scrutiny. Remember the one that said that pitching was 80% of the game? All sports are 50% offense and 50% defense. If you dominate on one side, you need less of the other to win. If we go up against a team with better pitching than us then they could win with less offense. If we face a team with our strong offense, then we may possibly not need to pitch as well to win, and their pitching may not be as effective as usual. It’s not as cut and dried as the generic view...

I don’t know if you guys know this or not but the Yankees didn’t win the World Series last night. That’s mostly because the World Series wasn’t scheduled for last night, but never mind.
They did win a pretty exciting baseball game, though. The one that was actually scheduled to be played last night. Just in case you can somehow manage to enjoy that despite the sense of impending doom that a couple of months from now something disappointing might happen.
