Until it snows...I still have a house in Iowa, which Sarah wanted. My gulf coastal upbringing just wasn’t made for real winter weather. What part of Iowa? I was going to make some travel suggestions from Dyersville, but you might already have been to them. Unfortunately, no. We were there only about four to five months, after leaving California, when Sarah’s cancer returned. We immediately left the snow and moved to Dallas. We were in the northern part of Iowa, about an hour south of Minnesota. I do like Iowa City (University of Iowa) and Ames (Iowa State), but we never had the chance to really explore.

The playing catch with his dad scene always gets me. [img alt=" " class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/lD0IYnVdZbyEdSEWlEUC.gif"] Oh man, I've never heard of any movie scene that more guys admitted tearing up to. I made the mistake of just watching that right now.

They might as well put LeMahieu's plaque in Cooperstown right now. This must be what it was like watching Rogers Hornsby. except the stadiums were smaller the meat was real and he batted .420 or so one year
Hard to imagine that.

Urshela is on another planet right now. If DJ is Hornsby, who is Gio? Surely he’s no longer “Little Gio”...

Yanks with their first TD on the board. Should we go for the two point conversion, or settle for the kick?...

What part of Iowa? I was going to make some travel suggestions from Dyersville, but you might already have been to them. I’m going to confess that, though I’ve never been to Iowa, I always thought that it would be a boring place, sort of a nothing is there, nowhere. Now, you have me curious about what’s appealing... The truth is that I’m sure there’s something appealing about just about anywhere you would go on this beautiful planet. Being a guy that likes his mountains and a dearth of humidity (is Iowa humid? I would think relatively so)...I like my western states...Especially the ones with the Rockies... No mountains Inger. Not magnificent like Wyoming or Colorado. But lots of beautiful rolling hills and grasslands and Mississippi River towns. I went to Clear Lake, which is where Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper played their last concert at the Surf Ballroom (still intact from its 1950s splendor) and where the plane went diwn in a cornfield. The site is easy to find. Clear Lake is an idyllic Victorian town. The whole area is beautiful. Also near the Misissippi the town of West Branch, where the farm where Herbert Hoover was born is a National Historic Site. Another idyllic site. Also the Amana Colonies, a preserved 19th century community where a group of cabinet makers eventually became the foundation of the appliance giant. Near Dubuque is Music Man country, the real life River City. Lots of Field of Dreams areas.
