It's going to be tough tomorrow, since most of the best relievers won't be available. It was already going to be tough odds with CC facing off against Clevinger. If we are ever going to see Ryan Dull, tomorrow will be the day. Although I suppose he might be DFA'd to make room on the roster for CC. So maybe it's a Cessa/ Cortes day, with just a pinch of Green. And then Monday that nearly-mythical day off we've been reading about. Dull was just sent back to Scranton.

Not sure I have ever seen someone thrown out of a game who was not on the team

Not sure I have ever seen someone thrown out of a game who was not on the team He was in dugout, talking smack at the umpire, who had rabbit ears and tossed him. Since he wasn't on the active roster, it meant nothing for the game, but CC will get fined too. Another note, CC is pitching tomorrow and the home plate ump is the guy who tossed him today. Could be interesting.

Jomboy's take on the nonsense with the umpires.

An interesting question is if there is any limit on when an umpire can throw someone out. I am not sure Gardner even broke a rule. Since when does throwing something, hitting something etc in the dug out a basis for being tossed out of the game.
Gardner seems to have developed a bad temper. Throws stuff, bashes stuff and on and on.

Not sure I have ever seen someone thrown out of a game who was not on the team It's happened many times. Umpires have also ejected trainers and even fans. They can eject anyone they jolly well want to. NBA Hall of Famer Bill Sharman was ejected from a game even though he never actually played in one. He was on the roster of the Dodgers and got the heave-ho for disputing umpire calls. But he never got into a game. I know that's not exactly what you were asking about, but I know for sure that players on the bench but not on the roster have been ejected. I was at a game in Philly around 1965 when Richie Allen, who was on the DL after putting his hand through a car headlight while seriously inebriated, got tossed for riding the umps.

I did not know umpires had authority over someone not on a team (I am not sure the legal basis in US law for them throwing a fan ( private citizen) out although the owner of the stadium could of course).
I wonder where the league get this authority

I wonder where the league get this authority I don't know where they get the authority, but you can go on youtube and see clips of umps ejecting fans. Of course the first one to show up is Bob Davidson. Guess he needed to take a break from all the balk calls he made. It's a power trip for these guys.

I don't know what the record is, but Tampa and Detroit are in the 13th inning and neither have scored

I think its pretty funny that neither can score in 13 innings. I think they both should lose if they can't score in 18....
Pitching is really bad this year but so are scoreless streaks. KC almost broke the ML record for scoreless innings going 43 innings without scoring a run and some other team (the Marlins I believe) went 37 innings earlier.

Tampa won the futility bowl 1-0 in the 13th. And there was great rejoicing
Oakland, Cleveland, and Tampa with near identical records
