I stopped paying attention to them. I didn't. How can you after last year? The talk was of a dynasty, and of how the Yankees certainly couldn’t make up the ground in a single season because Boston was SOOOOOOO amazing. Then, we heard we didn’t do enough over the winter. We HAD to have Machado, Harper, and Corbin to get back in the hunt... To have beat them out for the division this year was so cool. If they don’t pull off a miracle finish and make the playoffs, it’s truly divine... |

Who said we had to have them. For myself I thought Machado and Harper would be mistakes (I don't even know who Corbin is).  |

Sorry. That was the general consensus of the press and many fans. If you don’t know who Patrick Corbin is after this past winter, all I can advise is to look him up on BR. He was the top-rated free agent pitcher last winter.
I was lukewarm on Corbin, cool on Harper and ice-cold on Machado...

If you go back on this board I am sure you will find me saying both Harper and Machado would be mistakes (strange what I can remember). Remarkably I don't remember Corbin at all. |

I never understood wanting to get Harper especially, who did not seem like a great catch to me. And paying a fortune to Machado would have meant the players we have now (who I much prefer) could not be kept.
