Who the hell are these pitchers we keep running out there? It's like a box of new toys that Boone feels compelled to play with. It sucks, but this also a product of having only four healthy starting pitchers on the active roster. Baseball players seem to play better when they are consistently playing and on routines. What I don't understand is why they just didn't take one of these AAA guys and just make them the 5th starter instead of this opener 2 inning stuff. I get the opener has worked a lot, but most teams use it to have an actual starter get 1 time less in the lineup to increase effectiveness the Yankees just seem to use these games as bullpen games. As I said this its now 11-10, but it just seems like an innings eater average pitcher that they used to have a lot such as ponson mitre etc (true 5th starter types) is what they aren't trying here for whatever reason. |

Boone is using this game as an exhibition game to help make decisions about the post season roster. There’s no other reason for Cessa to be in and Gearrin to be warming up. They’re doing player evaluations. I think Singleton and Flaherty just read your post. Stuck with the Tigers broadcast here tonight and given how incoherent those guys are for their sake I really hope they’re drunk. |
