We moved to Anna Maria in 1959. It's nothing like it was back then. It was the best place to grow up because it was middle class, had pristine white sandy beaches and much better weather than Vermont where we moved from. When I played little league, I would Major League managers Fred Hutchinson and Birdie Tebbetts sitting in the stands watching their sons play. Pretty cool. I'm over Florida as too many assholes have moved there, built their McMansions and crapped on the locals. Traffic is nightmare, the politics are extremely corrupt and every inch of land is being built on. I was in Tampa-St. Pete May '23 when the Yanks were in town. Talked with several locals who were looking to move...homeowners insurance, political climate, etc. I'm sure Anna Maria was much different when you grew up there. I first went down to Florida from NY around '67. Relative of a friend of mine had a house in Miami suburb of Hollywood. It was actually kinda semi-rural then. I'm sure it's nothing like that today. I moved to SoCal in the late 60's...orange groves all over the place. No more.

There's a tradeoff, price to pay for everything. Vermont is a state that hasn't changed much. My wife and I strongly considered moving there at one time, ended up in The Adirondacks. We miss it...Summer & Fall.

Last night, Gloria and I went out with friends to a new Mexican restaurant. We shared a pitcher of margaritas and I thought of our old friend Dome. I don't know if he's still with us and can see the Yanks hopefully on their way to the WS, but I hope so. When we got home, I went to our kitchen by myself, poured a big shot of tequila and toasted Dome, Mr G, Utah, and all of the other Yankee fans who are no longer with us.

I've never seen a picture of Mordecai Brown's hand until this morning.

I've never seen a picture of Mordecai Brown's hand until this morning. Matt, posters with that photo were big selling points to drum up attendance back in his day. He never seemed to mind. Mordecai Peter Centennial Brown. What a great pitcher he was!

I've never seen a picture of Mordecai Brown's hand until this morning. I unloaded and spread 7 cubic yards of mulch in my backyard yesterday. That is what my hands look like today. I'm getting too old for this shit.

For those of you who get YES, it's showing the original TV broadcast of Larsen's perfect game right now. In case you're interested.
