So our opponent hasn't been decided yet, but we need something to talk about on this off day. How would you align our pitchers for the ALDS? i.e. who starts Game 1, Game 2, Game 3, etc?

How Yankees are drastically adjusting rotation in final week of regular seasonInstead of staying in turn for this week’s final five games, then Yankees probably will use openers for Tuesday and Wednesday’s games at Tampa Bay, then for next weekend’s series in Texas go with James Paxton on Friday, Luis Severino on Saturday and Masahiro Tanaka on Sunday. In this setup, Tanaka will be skipped a turn this week and pitch his final game on nine day’s rest and J.A. Hi everybody...havent posted in a while. Work/life has been busy and about to get a lot busier (little guy is due in October!) so just been lurking.
What I would want to see are Tanaka and Paxton in Games 1 and 2 (both much better at YS3 than on road this year) with Sevy starting Game 3 on the road. With German out of the picture that leaves Happ, CC, and bullpen game for Game 4 (then back to Tanaka at home for potential Game 5). Figure its gotta be Happ (last five starts = 27.1 innings with only 7 earned runs and 29 Ks).

I'd go with:
1. Paxton
2. Tanaka
3. Sevy
I don't think we need a 4th starter for the ALDS, but either way, it would be all hands on deck for games 4 & 5, with Sevy being the exception.

Great to see you back on here Joe. Small difference, I think Paxton has been on such a roll that I would have to go with him in game one, then Tanaka, with his post-season accomplishments, in game two, then Sevy in game three, then that Happ/CC/ bullpen contraption in game four (if needed.) I don't think we'll need a game five, but if we do Paxton right now is who I want out there. All aboard for that one if necessary.

So I was just going to post a new thread with a general consensus of the board and this was one of the ?'s I was going to pose. In my opinion, it should be... ::drumroll GAME 1- PAXY GAME 2- TANKY GAME 3- SEVY GAME 4- IT'S GOING TO BE A 3 GAME SWEEP!!! (or GREENY if for some reason that doesn't happen) I channeled my inner Girardi there with the Y's Missed this board a lot. You guys mean a lot to me.

If like me you’ve been wondering why they are giving such a long loon to Gearin. I was not aware of his prior success against Houston. Given how he has pitched as a Yankee, I am inclined to dismiss that prior success as small sample size but it may well be that’s what’s they’re thinking about.
