I thought he had a chance to be a 5th starter with the injuries but he can't even get through one inning. They had to use Cortez to relive him after 1/3 of an inning

I have no idea why Adams is on this roster. Remembering a nephew of mine from the in-law side of the family that used to turn and admire the home runs he allowed with a big grin. “Wow! That was a nice one”...He was a lefty, so his daddy thought... oh well. You know the dads like that, right? Daddy also envisioned himself a much better player than he was. Used to throw fairly hard, but liked to throw the ball down at your ankles in games of catch to try to prove he could throw so hard you couldn’t catch it. I’m talking like when he was 25-26 and I was 15-16. I could out throw him even then...and nobody caught balls like that from close range consistently...

At least we only used nine pitchers.

Now maybe I can watch the game later, since it was blacked out here.

What can I tell you? It hurts. The other thing that hurts is this horrendous announcing with the booth full of children and ex-players. If we were losing, I’d be outta here... The kids didn’t bother me. Some of the players they brought in with the kids were dumb as rocks. And all of the tributes to former players who played on teams that didn’t win anything were really moving. What a yahoo team.

Even in a game like this, Chance Adams struggles. I don’t think he’s going to make it. He’s a different pitcher since the surgery.

I have no idea why Adams is on this roster. To pitch garbage innings like he did. He hasn’t been used in any of the spots where they’re evaluating who’s making the postseason roster.

Cool to see Michael King. I figured him to get some starts this season, but fate stepped in and he didn’t get much work at all this year... I gave up on this game long before he made it in but it is great to see him in there. When I saw he gave up an unearned run I assumed it was Frazier but it looks like it was his own error. Which raises a question I’ve never had answered - if the run scores because of the pitchers own error why is it unearned?

Always wondered that myself. But back in the day, I was grateful for that quirk in the scoring rules, especially when I uncorked one into centerfield trying to start a double play.

One of several old school baseball rules that should be changed, along with a hitter being able to reach first base because he's dumb enough to swing at strike three in the dirt.
