I didn't even know Tanaka threw a curveball? What is that just a loopier version of his slider?
(I know he experimented with a knucklecurve in spring training)
My Yankee Pitcher Scouting Report from Sept 2 included a rarely thrown (2% usage) Tanaka curve ball at 76 MPH... You must apply yourself to your studies Grasshopper...Now get yer ass outside and wax on, wax off my old pickup truck, kaybli-san... Mow my grass, paint the gutters, haul twenty three loads of gravel before game time...

In four games against teams which won over 100 games, the Yankees have outscored their opponents by 30-7. The smallest margin of victory has been four runs. The team is batting .304, and the starting pitchers have an ERA of 1.83. I know we all predicted this, but it's still good to see. Maybe more amazing, even Buck and Smoltz weren't all that annoying on the broadcast, at least to me. I actually thought Buck did a decent job, which is I am sure the first time I ever wrote those words. It seems like Smoltz is tamer if Buck is there, because Buck hogs the screen time while anyone else he announces with kind of shuts up and lets Smoltz ramble. Nice. Smoltz is Buck’s bitch, I guess. Before I left the house I got to watch the first three innings. When I saw Buck and Smoltz together my first thought was “somebody is going to have to shut up”. Maybe Smoltz lost the coin flip...

Thank you so much all! Wife and baby are doing wonderfully. He was so excited about that Game 1 win that no one got any sleep Saturday night Tough loss last night...didnt make it all the way until the end of the game unfortunately. Definitely question some of the pitching moves though. Sevy/Cole is going to be one hell of a battle tomorrow.
