I think the Machado to the Yanks rumors,if started by Cashman, are cruel and unusual punishment. Dombrowski is getting up there in age. Poor guy is going to have a heart attack. Or maybe Boras started them with the hopes that the Boston GM signs JD and Hosmer for asking price, lol, this rumor is already floating around. [ That would not be good! Hey Wilpon, spend some of that TV money you bum. Keep Hosmer away from the Bosox

Keep Hosmer away from the Bosox If it came down to one or the other, I would be more concerned if JDM signed with Boston than Hosmer. They desperately need a power hitter in the middle of their lineup. Martinez is a RHB who hit 45 home runs in just 120 games last year...now throw in playing half his games in Fenway which is generally viewed as a RH park. I think he would have a much bigger impact offensively.

Welp... Santana signed with the Phillies. Before we got Stanton , I was hoping his price would come down low enough that the Yankees would sign him to DH/backup first in case of a Bird injury.. maybe be the 3rd catcher as well. Glad he didn't go to Boston!!

I think that's Market Value for him. But I wouldn't want the Yankees to pay that.. hence "I was hoping his price would come down" before we got Stanton... Knowing the Phillies, they probably bid against themselves....also, probably paid a steeper prices for less years on the contract. They have him signed through his age 34 season. If say , the contract took him through his age 36 season... maybe they spend 16 per season. 80 million over 5 years... Then again... MLB Trade Rumors predicted him to get a 3 year 45 million dollar deal... so he over achieved to the tune of an extra 5 million a season lol

Good signing by the Fighting Phils.
