Actually now that I think about it wasn't the dh position a joke in 2017 as well? That's why Holliday started game 1.

Blame German for that. That's a 19 game winner that could have been pitching instead. Really screwed over his team with his terrible behavior. I doubt he will be here next year. The Yankee ownership is not likely to forget his terrible behavior.

The video of Judge standing with his back to the media in the locker room is heartbreaking.

In honesty even had chapman not melted down it would have been tough. We had not much in the way of relief. And no one has found a way to beat Cole yet in the play offs this year had we won.
This is the first decade I believe since the first one in the 20th century where we failed to make the WS in a decade.
I guess that is piling on

The video of Judge standing with his back to the media in the locker room is heartbreaking. Do we think Judge was 100%? He didn't look very Judge like most of this post season. Which was odd because the last month of the season he like doubled his HR total from 13 to 26 or whatever.

Like most yankees he did not have the power particularly at Yankee stadium.
I think injuries caught up with the team.

Let me say again, it was a pleasure to talk with you guys throughout the whole season! I spend lots of time on the computer and I visit this page more than is probably healthy (lol). But I keep coming back because I enjoy the banter with so many people who not only are knowledgeable about baseball but have good hearts and great senses of humor! For me this place is more than just a baseball forum, its a community of wonderful posters I care about deeply! I've known a lot of you for over a decade! Let's continue to make this community tight knit and a fun place to spend time as we go forward in our lives!

Yankees off season goal=get better than astros Honestly even with the Astros aces the yankees were an extra hit here or there in most of the games away. I'm really not sure the talent level is that far off. Obviously a real starter would help opposed to these bullpen games, but outside of the green homer the only run they gave up was a failed dp ball that scored a run the entire game for 8 innings? Sure Champman should he able to get out of that inning with the bases empty and 2 outs, but most problems in this series were not getting the scoring hits at the right times. Verlander and Cole are great but I don't think they were the difference in this series. This was such a close series and both teams struggled to score in clutch situations, the Astros had a couple more big hits and it made a difference. The Astros were certainly the better base running team and they played better overall defense too, plus they made far less dumb mistakes than the Yanks, which in close games matters. As Boone would say, the Yanks need to clean that stuff up. A couple of other surprises: How worthless the DH spot was for both teams, the whole idea of the DH is add an extra bat, usually someone that can hit and be productive. Also, in the biggest game of the season, the two best teams in the AL both used openers, showing neither had a 4th starter they deemed worthy of beginning this game. That very strange but that's baseball in 2019, unless you're the Nationals or Dodgers. Anyway, that's a tough way to end what was a great season.

A bitter and disappointing end to a great season. Honestly one of my favorite seasons as a baseball fan, probably only 1996 and 1998 were more fun for me. I loved this team and appreciate everything they did to stay positive in the face of adversity. Some great times and great lessons for me and my boys. Next years team will look very different.

Hanging slider. Should not have thrown them back to back. In the end, Chapman fell behind both Springer and Altuve. Yankees did themselves no favors in this series. Houston was the better fundamental baseball team. We make far too many mistakes in the field and on the bases, and the Astros put more balls in play. Urshela and LeMahieu nearly won this game for us. Also, I believe we would have been better off starting Happ and following with Cessa. I really cannot stand the one-inning opener bullshit. Please make a note to scrap this abomination next year.
