Impressive stats for Deivi. I’m hoping the Yanks keep in mind that sometimes the very best of a young arm is while that arm is still young. I know that doesn’t always hold true. There are Koufax and Randy Johnson that took a long time to develop. Yet, there are also Vida Blue and Dwight Gooden that show the possibilities. Those two are also good reminders of the need to choose personalities wisely. Gooden quickly slipped into self abusive behavior and Blue had something called a “hold out” that has become lore of the past due to improvement of pay scale for young players and the added bonus of knowing that building a resume can lead to tremendous future reward in free agency... |
