I think Kenny Lofton has a good HOF case because as a kid growing up, other kids who weren't into baseball as much as I was, still recognized his name. Lofton, Ripken Jr, Griffey JR, The Big Hurt, Piazza, Clemens, Maddux, Glavine... I think those are standard names that everyone knew were baseball players... but Lofton was definitely in there... if that makes sense...

Point is, if player's are household names.. they're more than likely Hall of Famers... since, you know, the Hall is a museum..

It jabbed next so hard it almost came out the other side of me. It hurt, too...I wouldn’t rely on that to be a reliable play, but it’s better than. I play. There might be kids that have heard of German, for instance because he was in the news for domestic abuse that have no idea who Severino is. That’s my dull stick, I guess...

I think those are standard names that everyone knew were baseball players... but Lofton was definitely in there... if that makes sense... Although Lofton was the better all-around player of the two, he and Brett Butler had some amazingly similar stats. They always kind of reminded me of each other, and looking at some numbers I see why. They had nearly identical OBP and OPS+. They each played 17 seasons and finished within 53 hits of each other. They both threw and batted left. They both covered a lot of ground in centerfield and stole a lot of bases (although Butler got CS way too much; it might have been the biggest hole in his game.) They both were well above-average in CF assists. They each played for the Indians, Braves and Dodgers. Even their birthdays are only two weeks apart, although Butler is a half-generation older. Butler was amazingly durable. He had an eleven year period where he averaged 150 games a year. I am a big fan of availability. I don't contest that Lofton was the better player, but not by a great margin.

Bonds and Clemens hovering around that 75 percent mark in public ballots. Though usually it goes down as private ballots usually have them in at a lesser rate.

I wouldn’t vote for either but since the HOF honor has already been so devalued, let’s see one of them get in so it can remind everyone how much trouble each went through to knowingly gain an illegitimate competitive advantage over others by breaking the law and the rules of the game. Then let’s see all of the writers twist themselves in knots trying to explain why that kind of immorality is ok because they believe those guys would have been good enough to get the honor if they hadn’t cheated and had played clean, but they did cheat, so somehow that means they get in but other guys who cheated don’t. That alone will be more entertaining than seeing Bonds and Clemens try to deliver a speech in complete sentences.
