I'd go:
Jeter Bonds Clemens Walker M Ramirez Schilling
Jeter & Walker are likable guys and the rest are jerks but they all belong in the HOF.
There is a lot of excellent players on the the veteran committee list with Lou Whitaker at the top. He should go in.

Despite what we sometimes saw of Abreu in his later years, he was an amazing player as a young man... speed/power combo. Good D early on his career... Hot the ball for average, plus still free based on balls. He was an on base machine to the end...

I was actually surprised Abreu had a 10 WAR advantage on Giambi... similar OBP, I guess it makes sense given Giambi was horrible on D... but Abreu was protecting the candy Konerko actually hit a ton of home runs.. I think he's in the top 50 all time... I also read the average HOFer (or maybe it was just talking about HOF pitchers?) had about 50 WAR

While Jeter is a lock, I'd be shocked if he was unanimous like Mo was. There will definitely be at least a Boston reporter who won't vote for Jeter.

I don't think Bonds or Clemens will get in (both are I think in their 8th year of eligibility). Too many writers are bothered by their PED use and in Bonds case that he broke the law.

As the old guard moves on and younger writers are given votes, Bonds and Clemens have been slowly moving up in percentage. There seems to be a generational gap in how they view these players and PED usage. The biggest question is if the tide will turn fast enough or if Bonds and Clemens will run out of eligibility.

Both made slow gains last year. Both remain below 60 percent when you need 75 percent. They only have three years left including this one. www.sbnation.com/mlb/2019/1/22/18159199/barry-bonds-roger-clemens-hall-of-fame-voting

Bonds and Clemens SHOULD be in!!!! I hate to say it but Schilling too... and to fill out the rest of my ballot... Walker, Manny and of course Jeter... Helton and Sheffield are border line in my opinion, but don't get my vote... Walker should be in the hall though... The common argument against Walker is that his stats were inflated by Coors Field. They probably were, but it needs to be considered that almost every team wins more games at home, and that most players tend to play better at home. I know Pippsheadache said in a post on the forum recently that he never felt players should be penalized for taking advantage of favorable conditions at their home park, and I tend to agree with that. With no stake in the argument for or against Walker, here are some random player splits, home listed first, followed by away for their careers... Larry Walker .348/.431/.537 // .278/.370/.495 Carl Yastrzemski .306/.402/.503 // .274/.357/.422 Mel Ott .297/.422/.558 // .311/.408/.510 Babe Ruth .346/.483/.698 // .338/.466/.682 Lou Gehrig .329/.436/..620 // .351/.458/.644 Ted Williams .363/.496/.652 // .328/.467/.615 Joe DiMaggio .315/.391/.547 // .334/.406/.611 Home/ Away HR: Some of these players seem to have been greatly aided by their home parks, while others may have been detered to an extent. If we exchange ballparks for Williams and DiMaggio, they still exude greatness, just perhaps a slightly different way. Ott was greatly assisted in hitting HR, but that short RF fence also seemed to have hurt his BA. Neither Ruth nor Gehrig received a particular boost by placing on Yankee Stadium, while both Williams and Yaz have their batting averages bolstered by Fenway Park. Walker hit more HR at home vs. road. This despite that Denver’s thin air and large park dimensions usually have boosted BA more than HR. Walker : 215/168 Yastrzemski : 237/215 Ott 323/188 Ruth 347/367 Gehrig 251/242 Williams 248/273 DiMaggio 148/213 Some thoughts: (Sorry, format goof. See thoughts above HR.)... 🤪

Yeah, I don't think Walker should be punished for being a Rockie.. right before he went to Colorado, he hit 322/394/587 (151 ops+).. so yeah, it's not like the 4 seasons he hit over 350.. but he was still pretty great

I disagree. they flagrantly broke the rules of the game and in Bonds case US law to win.
