I’d Torres ready carry this load on his shoulders going forward? Last year he had a .961 fielding pct. and made 11 errors in about a half season of work at SS.
He seems to make some spectacular plays at times, but also tries to make the impossible play sometimes when he should eat the ball.
My feeling is that we should give it a go. He can always go back to 2B if he doesn’t quite cut it at short.
I’ve read far-fetched rumors of a Lindor trade, but I’ll believe that when I see it...

He has the tools, he just has to execute. I believe he'll improve going forward. Also, playing him at short makes room for DJ at 2nd where I prefer him. That leaves third for Urshela/Andujar and first for Voit/Ford. I do love Lindor but getting him would create a logjam in the infield. I doubt he gets traded though anyway for less than a king's ransom with the Indians trading Kluber already.

I voted yes because I am an optimist by nature, but the question is a toss-up to me. It is based on the belief that his sheer ability will permit him to improve at the position. I wasn't happy with what we saw last year, but I expect improvement. I do like having DJ at second, where he is brilliant.

I think he's a better SS than 2B.. his natural position is SS and everyone wondered how well he'd adjust to 2nd base. I think he'll be more than good at SS.

I’m totally comfortable. He might not ever be an elite defensive SS but neither was Jeter but that didn’t get in the way of him being a great player. I also would be fine leaving him at 2nd, playing Estrada and Wade at SS and letting DJ continue to play everywhere but since DJ is so great at 2nd they might keep him there, especially if it helps them to extend him.

Admittedly, I didn't watch many 2019 games due to my "situation." Was Torres THAT bad at SS? The limited time I saw him I thought he was pretty good... Certainly had more range than Jeter. The mistakes I saw, mostly at 2B, were mental not physical.. it seemed.
