Their owner will never approve Manny to the Yanks. agreed, but we've seen crazier things. personally i would rather hold on to our prospects than cash them in for a rental

CHRISTMAS comes real early for Tequila & I here in Nowhere, Baja.
First Headley is traded (Thank God)
Tequila woke up this morning whistling the tune from 'Bridge Over River Kwai' ; her favorite tune when she is happy.
Now for the best X'Mas ever = Can we dump Ellsbury???

The Padres have reached agreement with the Yankees on a swap that will bring third baseman Chase Headley back to San Diego along with righty Bryan Mitchell, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post (via Twitter). Jabari Blash is going to the Yanks in the deal, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (via Twitter). It’s far from clear that Blash will have any chance of holding a 40-man spot with New York, so this seems to make clear the move is intended almost entirely to shed Headley’s salary and free up some roster space. Also: The Yankees are among the teams with interest in Tigers righty Michael Fulmer, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today (via Twitter). New York also has considered Diamondbacks lefty Patrick Corbin, per the report. Jabari Blash sounds like a dance or perhaps an alcoholic drink, right? If you look at his MiLB stats vs. his MLB stats and his age, I'm going to say that he's somewhat of an Aaron H-I-C-K-S redo. The Yankees trying to catch a bit of lightning by changing his approach to hitting...Either way, I think it was good to move Headley to a place where a .260/14/65 season with an occasional overthrow of first base will keep him in the lineup...He still seems to have that much gas in the tank...Thanks for the memories of the one or two hot streaks you gave us Chase, and no thanks for those ice cold runs when I thought you'd never get another hit in your life...Even in a beer softball league... I doubt Blash is even on the 40 man roster in a few months... I think the only reason we dealt for him was because San Diego had to give us something in return... and he just happen it be 'something'

We could have sent a player to be named later, but we didn't want that over our heads...so we just sent you. Good luck!"

We could have sent a player to be named later, but we didn't want that over our heads...so we just sent you. Good luck!" You brightened my day by reminding me of these two excerpts from "Ball Four"... "Another thing about that [1967] spring. This was after I'd pitched about twenty-five marvelous innings. [Yankee manager Ralph] Houk sat next to me in the dugout and told me, very confidentially, 'You know, you're having a helluva spring, a better spring than Dooley Womack and I think you're just the man we need in the bullpen.' What I wanted to say was 'I'm having a better spring than who? Dooley Womack? The Dooley Womack? I'm having a better spring than Mel Stottlemyre or Sam McDowell or Bob Gibson.' That's what I should have said. Instead I just sat there shaking my head. He could've knocked me off my seat. Instead he sold me to Seattle. [...] At this morning while I was asleep in my room at the Statler Hotel in Baltimore the phone rang. I picked it up and [Seattle manager] Joe Schultz said: 'Jim, you've been traded to the Houston Astros. There were two things I wanted to know...The second thing was, who for? You like to hear a big name on the end. It's good for your morale. 'Who for?' I said to Schultz. 'Dooley Womack,' he said. Dooley Womack? Holy mackerel. The same Dooley Womack whose great spring I almost matched with the Yankees? Oh lord! I hope there was a lot of undisclosed cash involved. I hope a hundred thousand at least. Maybe it's me for a hundred thousand and Dooley Womack is just a throw-in. I'd hate to think that at this stage of my career I was being traded even up for Dooley Womack." ~Jim Bouton, Ball Four

Not sure if I like the idea of Frazier and Adams for Cole. Great stuff but mediocre results!! Im not into this. The Yankees just did a trade for Gray last year and have him controlled for a couple more years. I dont see why we need to give up quality prospects for 2 years worth of Gerrit Cole who has seen his ERA rise from 2.60 to 3.88 to 4.26 over the last few years while in the NL (FIP has regressed similarly). Id prefer to see a FA signing with Adams, Sheffield, and Acevedo knocking on the door rather than trade valuable pieces for a guy who has been moving in the wrong direction when he was supposed to be hitting his prime.

This will be his second full season back from elbow surgery, and from all reports he's back to his old 97-98 MPH stuff at the end of 2017. A gamble? A bit, but then again, he'll come a bit cheaper because of it...

Seems like he pitched his best early in the year, closer to when he hurt the elbow. Im not buying it, I think hes an underachiever.

I agree Joe... In fact, I don't think we should trade for ANY pitcher.. at least as far as the names I've heard so far. I don't want to give up Frazier either. I'd rather sign CC and have the AAA pitchers as the pitching depth... see what Adams, Sheffield, ect have if the time comes for a 6th starter. A top 3 of Sevy, Tanaka, Gray is great... Lets see what Monty could do in his second year in the bigs. I think it would be a hinderance to his development to send him to the minors. I also think he has what it takes to be a solid #3 starter.. Lets go with what we got. If we can't sign CC for a one year deal... lets see what we got in the minors.. or sign Jamie Garcia as a #5 in hopes his spot gets stolen by a rookie, pushing him into a mop up roll. A cost controlled TOR starter would be great... but not at the expense it would cost to likely land one. Fuck , I'd rather sign Darvish for 4 years.

Some seem to forget that Monty was the TOP... the #1... rookie pitcher in the American League.. maybe even in the whole MLB?

Yeah, we have to trust management, but two blue chip prospects???
