Not surprised. He had stops and starts last season, too.

I love Kahnle, but I swear… one of these days his arm is just going to drop right off his body and just lie on the ground next to the mound. They’ll bring a stretcher out to pick it up and he’ll have it surgically placed back on and then make a few appearances late in the following season before resuming his full time career again until it drops off again, again lying pathetically next to the mound, wishing it could be adopted…

He defied odds and came back from a surgery that removed a tumor from his arm. In his second start his arm broke while throwing a pitch. The cancer had returned and his arm had to be amputated after treatment didn't work. Really heartbreaking.

New York Post | Greg Joyce: In some positive injury news, DJ LeMahieu, Gerrit Cole, and Oswald Peraza have been progressing well. The Yankees third baseman, who has been sidelined with an injured foot that was revealed to be a non-displaced fracture, has been hitting in the cage and throwing; the next step — arguably the most difficult — is lateral movement on defense. Cole, meanwhile, is close to starting up a throwing program, while Peraza began throwing yesterday — slightly ahead of schedule.

Good bye Jonny Lo, as he goes on the 60 day IL… Jeez ... that's it for him. This was really his last chance to stay healthy [br I didn’t even look to see what he strained this time. It doesn’t matter any more. I thought the idea of two days rest in between appearances might help. I was skeptical about the longer outings part. Generally he gets tons of rest. Make one appearance, hit the 60 day IL. Then make another appearance. Give the Yanks credit though. They didn’t start off with the 10-Day IL…
