The original intent of not taxing the churches was due to the then relatively small sizes of the congregations which were often also poor people. There are still some churches that fit that demographic, but there are also churches that resemble some of the largest corporations in the world. They have massive amounts of real estate, large ornate buildings, wealthy ministry that live a lavish lifestyle. The intent has gone awry...

Ellis Marsalis Jr. dead at 85, from the coronavirus.
If you don’t like or know jazz or are not from Louisiana or around New Orleans, Ellis Marsalis was a legend. He’s the father of Wynton and Branford Marsalis but was truly a force and icon of music and jazz for seventy years. At least, he lived a long life. A true artist.

He’s the father of Wynton and Branford Marsalis but was truly a force and icon of music and jazz for seventy years. At least, he lived a long life. A true artist. A disease most of us have only known of for a few months is snatching people away from us before their time...At 85 he surely still had music in his heart and in his hands. Perhaps not much more time, but now we’ll never know...

Early on in the battle, exporting might have been wise. If it had stopped the virus in it’s tracks we might have all benefitted. Maybe these exports did slow it down, who will ever know?...
