Just looking for opinions. If they do extend him, what would it be based on? His rookie season? Concerns about his injury record? A simple desire to keep him from free agency? How do you establish his value?

Despite his injury issues, I would try to extend him, because you could pay him a little less now or a lot more later.

PAY THE MAN!!! Now would be a great time because during negotiations you can bring up "hey man, you're always injured, I'll be paying you to rehab half the time... take the 15 million a season" LOL

I don't either... But I start at $15... not 15 million... $15 an inning.. and work my way up from there. The hope being his agent would get so tired of negotiating with me, especially since he's a hostage.. and I don't work for the Yankees... that he will just eventually agree to whatever I say... knowing that I don't work for the Yankees... and that's how we eventually land on $15 million.
