So far I'm not feeling very confident I'll learn anything I learned some “Tarzan talk” Spanish out of necessity back when I had to deal with having Mexican workers. Even then, I found that the Mexican folks sometimes were unsure what to tell me to say, or that dialects varied between parts of the country. I recall asking how to say “Greenhouse”. Logically, one might think Casa (house) Verde (green), but because it simply meant that the house was green, it didn’t cover it for them. It took about four days for them to come back with invernadado, but the next group of Me I and I dealt with had no idea what invernadado meant. Sierch, I believe it to be a trait you almost need to be born with. Like some are good at math, spelling, science, or mechanics. You either have it, or you don’t. The difficult thing is that if you have no one to speak the language with you don’t tend to progress further than menu items or where is the rest room?

I speak Bengali. But I suck at picking up new languages. I was terrible at French in high school.

How did you learn your second language? I took Spanish in college, as knowing a foreign language was a requirement of the degree. But, if you do not use it regularly, you’ll slowly lose it. It’s a little expensive, but Rosetta Stone is a good investment, and you can practice it at anytime with automatic feedback.

Do any of you make automobile warranty calls from home? 😂 The summer between 7th and 8th grade, I was hooking up with this High School girl. (first boobs I saw in real life and first boobs I touched.. she was realllllly "loose") She informed me that she was taking German class so when I mailed in my choices for electives, I put down the German class... because I figured I'd have a chance to be in the same class as her. The German class was in the High School... Welp, I got into the German class.. but we stopped talking before summer was over. I had no interest in learning German. (for some reason, I thought HS classes were waaay different than MS classes.. and I thought we'd be able to like make out in the back of the class somehow.. but I digress. There was a "shuttle bus" that would take you from the MS parking lot to the HS. I would purposely miss the bus and walk over... and then wander around the HS "lost." Show up to class w/ about 5 minutes left to go. Lasted about 2 weeks before they told me I could no longer take the class. Needless to say, I never learned a word of German. SIGH... the things we do for "love"

Part of reason why I want to learn Spanish is to talk to the Mexican girls where I'm working LOL. When I was working over-nights at the grocery store there were some Mexican girls that spoke very little English... and I was fancying learning the language as well. 90% of the reason I want to learn Spanish...

Mixing business with pleasure will wind up getting you in trouble. Stay away from those girls... find somebody you can talk to instead of taking Spanish so you can learn the few words you need to know to get laid. And never someone you work with...

Foreign languages are baffling. It's like they a different word for everything.
