It's said the Yankees are having talks with the Giants about dealing Ellsbury, who has indicated that he might waive his no-trade clause to go to SF. Jwildfogel, who lives near SF has posted on scout.com that the rumors in SF are rampant. I hope this happens, but I'm not holding my breath. I also read that the Giants are talking to the Reds about Billy Hamilton and that they have considered free agent Jarrod Dyson. I'd take either one of those two over Ellsbury if I were a GM in MLB...

The big issue is how much money will the Yanks have to eat on Ellsbury's contract in order to get rid of him. Actually getting any value in return is secondary.

I thought I saw somewhere that Boras came out and said there is no chance Ells would be waiving his NTC. I suppose it could just be a negotiating tactic but it seemed rather definitive.

If Ellsbury is going, Samardzjia is coming back and the Yanks are sending money.
Giants want out of that contract, so they will make sure the Yankees take it.

Well, the trade rumors seem to have lost their legs at this point...

Well, the trade rumors seem to have lost their legs at this point... Yeah, maybe these GM's broke out the tape of Ellsbury's at bats and realized he isn't worth it?
