I think that was Satchel Paige back in the Negro League days. You beat me to it! The Ken Burns Baseball documentary covered it, the entire series is well worth watching, if you have 20+ hours to spare. |

hale blows his chance at a triple play by getting a strike out. There was a pitcher in the 30's who told his entire outfield to sit in the dugout which they did. He then struck out the side. Never would allow that these days. Too serious. That was Eddie Feigner, the soft ball pitcher, not a MLB pitcher. He did it often, actually. Feigner pitched for years under the banner “ The King and His Court”. So no. “They” didnt allow that back then, either... |
