Not a good sign from Gardy when he’s hitting those weak fly balls to left. Tauchman kills lefties: .357/.446/.529/.974 in 2019 and .313/.402/.438/.839 career. maybe it's just me, but it seems Gardner has lost his identity in trying to hit home runs. I know he will still go the other way, but it seems he is more looking to crush the big home run to RF. Boone needs to find ways to get Tauchman more AB's, and this was a game that offered that opportunity.

I think we should try andujar at DH Ford drove in 3 runs last night, he can hit. Plus they need the DH for Frazier when Judge starts playing again. Tauchman should play LF. This would be my ideal scenario. I would like to see Tauchman play everyday. Of course it also depends on when Judge is available again.

Tauchman has only gathered 30 AB, yet is tied for the AL lead with 4 SB, adding a much-needed element of speed to the lineup...

Gardner has an uppercut swing which results in a lot of flyballs and an occasional home run, but is also probably a big reason for his sub .250 batting average. He was originally brought back in 2019 to be an extra OF, but had to play more due to injuries. The Yanks should slide him back into that role.

Ah. No game today.
At least Judge can rest up.

This would be my ideal scenario. I would like to see Tauchman play everyday. Of course it also depends on when Judge is available again. Gardner needs to sit. 5 years ago, in my ideal scenario for Gardner I projected him to be our 4th OF at this point. In fact, I figured that would start in 2019. But in 2019 we were hit with a bunch of injuries and MLB decided to go play in little Johnny’s back yard with a rubber ball and the roofs tops were very inviting. Gardner hit his 28 HR, which has not only teased him into believing he could do it again, but has also convinced Aaron Boone he can do it again. He’s always been a feast or famine type hitter, so maybe he can. Tauchman seems to do something exceptional in just about any game he plays in. It would be nice to see him get the playing time to if he’s the real deal. Hicks is the same story every year. A world of tools in the tool box, a .235 average that seems like it should have been higher, the inevitable injury putting him on the shelf. It seems as though the team has put itself in a strange position, with three OF that are oft injured (yes, Judge is on that list) and three high quality # 4 outfielders, some of which are intended to start and wind up playing more than the expected starters do...

He gets hot and you love him. Then he dives for a ball he has no chance for and it seems after that he goes into a slump and dives for another ball that he has no chance for. Then he catches a ball you thought he had no chance for. Then he hits a couple HR. Then he collides with a wall on a ball he should have caught but didn’t. Then he throws a runner out at home. But then he goes into a slump. Damn it Clint! Would you please figure out what the hell you’re doing out there? Please... AAAaaaaGggghhhhhh!

I'm going with Hicks, because despite the low batting avg., Hicks still displays high on base skills (.414 OBP). Plus, he's a switch hitter and at this point in their careers, he's a better CF than Gardner.

chiyankee I probably agree with you on Hicks even though I have never been a big fan of his. I would have never signed him to a 7 year deal to start with. Under any scenario I think Tauchman should be starting somewhere. Under ordinary circumstances we could say it is early in the year but really it is not. We probably have to live with Sanchez given the alternatives(the Mendoza line would be an optimistic goal for him) but to play Gardner and his less than anemic bat a lot makes no sense to me. I'm pulling for Frazier to get the opportunity. I would guess his playing time will diminish dramatically when Judge comes back though. I don't know why I am bitching though considering our 12-6 record with two of our starting pitchers having ERA's over 7 and we are in first place in the division.

You’re expressing concerns. It’s not like we’re not catchable. Hicks is actually not a bad hitter for a centerfielder, and when you add his throwing arm, which is much better than most CF, he holds up well to the position... when he’s healthy enough to contribute...

RF Judge CF Hicks LF Tauchman DH Frazier
pretty much everyday with Ford(at DH)/Gardner rotated in occasionally.
