Very nice and heartfelt opening post, Rizzuto. Happy Thanksgiving, so it is! We’re going to the neighbor’s again. It’s a sort of bittersweet day as we are working toward selling so we can downsize, but life goes on. We live different stages and must adapt.
We have yet another cabin to look at this coming Tuesday. We drove out to the mountains a couple of days ago to look at one, and five beautiful turkeys popped out of the woods and crossed the road in front of us.
When we neared the cabin, the road got extremely rough. We pulled into the driveway and found that, while the cabin was cute, it was built right on the edge of a cliff. I wasn’t sure if I was in a “Roadrunner” cartoon or one of the old Sunday comics with “Snuffy Smith”. There was a side walk without even a railing to the right of the house, and to the right of that... straight down about 100 feet. The real estate ad mentioned the place had 2.6 acres of land, but hadn’t mentioned that some of it was vertical.
Anyway... enjoy, guys.

Just heard on the news that there is a low, but audible rumble of growling stomachs building over the eastern seaboard, and slowly working it’s way westward.
Not sure when we eat. The neighbors always just call us when it’s ready, but I’m already starting to growl...

While “we” celebrate, this is a day of mourning for many of the Native American tribes, especially the ones from the east coast... At various times some natives survivors have thrown dirt on Plymouth Rock. One year someone painted the rock (probably not the actual rock that was first stepped upon) red to symbolize the tribal blood that was spilled after that day. Every time someone vanquishes a new land, someone else loses it... |
