I forgot where I read it, but Michael “The Shawarma” King admitted that last season convinced him that a third pitch is needed at the major league level, so he’s working on that this Spring. I wonder how many of his former coaches just read that and shook their collective heads, wishing they had a nickel for every time it was mentioned to him? It has to be a tough situation. You are the best pitcher every where you go your entire life. Even then, as a mere child you read it and here it everywhere from every one. “You’ll need a third pitch later”. You’re still doing fine, there’s two out and a runner on second. Where is that third pitch. You, know... that change up you worked on last week? But the lead is only one run, so... I’m going throw my curve. I trust it. Strike three! Change up. Maybe tomorrow. Then you teach the major leagues. Same situation. Where’s that change up? I trust my curve more so here it is, hit it. Go ahead... line drive to right field, and the game is tied, here comes Boonie. Sometimes only failure can make you understand what they all meant for all those years...

I first read that as “head” strength guy. I thought... WTH, they’re testing the players mentality in ST now? I was glad Gleyber was strong mentally...

It's getting better, I'm learning more about their processes and how they do things and what needs to change. I'm starting to feel more comfortable. Thanks for asking! The one downside: I'm not on the internet at all during the day, so I can't post as much for now.

But I'm glad you are getting more comfortable at the new job! Hopefully you will be able to post in game threads at night when the real regular season games start!

I can tell you that my experience with weird random illnesses and then injuries has been a total of almost 17 months. It’s been very tough, but right this minute I’m in the “best shape of my life”. The shoulders are almost 100%. My battle with depression appears to finally in the “good” stage. I’m positioned to move forward and have talked to the owner of the solar company and am going to remain with him as an independent contractor, adding some additional money to my deal by adding a new “product” that I can bill him for, which will be “consulting”. The point here is that of course my inability to stay on the field led to a feeling of helplessness, which then led to depression and more helplessness. The fall occurred just as I was getting ready to start work again, which spiraled the depression down again. It’s taken me a month and and half to heal and rebuild my psyche again to this point. I’m excited to restart. There is no worse feeling in the world than that of not being able to perform. I imagine how it might be to be Jake Ellsbury or Giancarlo Stanton, but worse because I wasn’t paid for work. Thankfully I was able to survive the financial with some assistance from unemployment and the stimulus checks we got. Lots of lessons learned, and here I’m trying to pass them on to you younger guys. Keep working until you have full financial stability, and can enjoy it. It’s depressing as all get out to sit. I’m getting off the bench again! The only obstacle now is the snow, and that’ll be gone soon (snowing tonight). Our whole operation pretty much stops with snow and high winds. Safety first. Good to hear your new job is going well, Chi. Enjoy the ride!...If you find the plane is headed in the right direction, keep flying until you get a ticket to go the other way.

Good ole Luke Voit. Last season, he came into camp lighter and leaner in an effort to improve his athleticism. This off season, he worked on his defense, paying specific attention to the defensive metrics that indicated a deficit to his right. Watching Voit carry the team (with LeMahieu) last season while suffering from plantar fasciitis showed the type of competitor he is. A repeat of last season could launch him into another tier of Yankee history, especially with a World Series title added to the mix. nypost.com/2021/02/25/yankees-luke-voit-focusing-on-defense-and-home-run-trot/

Tauchman showing urgency/emotion early in Spring Training:
“Mike Tauchman snapped his bat over his leg after flying out against Domingo German and then came back to homer off Gerrit Cole during live BP.”

Somebody’s been in the gym! Maybe he had a special bat made.
