--03-11-21 HUGE BRAVO—EVERY MAJOR CITY SHOULD DO SUCH: news.yahoo.com/la-opens-first-tiny-home-050823660.html LA opens its first tiny home village to ease homeless crisis LOS ANGELES (AP) — Amy Skinner took notice when brightly colored structures started taking shape earlier this year on a drab patch of asphalt across from a Los Angeles park where she occasionally slept outdoors. Skinner, who's been homeless for three years, watched as workers built a fence with a security gate and transformed the city-owned property into LA's first tiny home village offering interim housing and services for people who lack shelter. Then in early February, Skinner was handed the keys to one of the 39 prefab units at the one-acre plot in a North Hollywood neighborhood. She and her partner, John Golka, moved into the 64-square-foot (6-square-meter) space with their little dog, Smalls. It's cramped but comfortable inside their temporary home — with four windows, two beds, shelving and an A/C unit. The inscription on the welcome mat at the front door captures their new mood: “This is our happy place.” “Being able to lock the door and have a place to sleep is huge," Skinner, 48, said after a morning smoke with other new residents in the community’s shared outdoor space. Bright red picnic tables stood nearby and a “hygiene trailer” with toilets and showers was just steps away. “Just being able to fall asleep! That's so hard to do when you're on the streets," she said.

I love vintage cars....would love a 58 or 66 Corvette. I wonder what hemp seeds taste like? The continued existence of classic cars is in the hands of collectors that want to remember their younger days. The sad part is that as each generation passes away, interest in cats for that era will wane. For a 67-year old line me, that means I’m partial to cars that were on the road that were common to see when I first started noticing cars. This continues through the era when cars were being designed differently after I started driving them. I constantly see old cars I’d love to have, but buying then alone can be prohibitive in cost, much less the even more expensive process of making them road-worthy and all-original. For the most part, it’s a wealthy man’s play toy, though I see them here and there in homeowners garages. The most desired models are bought out of fields and barns, but the lesser-liked models get ignored. I’d hope we see a rush toward putting them in museums. One day, they’ll be too rusted, too broken down to restore.

I tried hemp seeds years ago. I bit bitter by themselves, but if you like to add them to salads, or smoothies you can sort of just “absorb them” as collateral damage as you eat or drink other foods.
It never became something that I wanted bad enough or could become creative enough to include. A couple of other seeds with health benefits flexing their muscle are ashwaganda and maca. Recommended to be eaten in the same way as the hemp, with the additional benefit of increasing sperm production and potentially increasing your sexual fluids, if that’s meaningful to you.
All of them tasted about the same to me. And since the seeds were small they were a little like chewing on soft sand. They were stuck everywhere in your mouth, between teeth, under the tongue, in your cheeks.
I may give looking into these products another go. I’ve become too dependent on eating evening snacks of very unhealthy foods.
Dinner was fine and healthy enough tonite. A couple of small, breaded cod filets, baked beans (which I love as a compliment to cod), and macaroni and cheese with very light cheese not at all like Velveeta that I like on my burgers. But later on, the urge begins to strike for sweet. I’ll find a couple chocolate doughnuts, or something similar. Then at bed time, my meds seem to trigger a case of the munchies, and I’ll start to search the cabinets of evil again...

LOVING THIS DRESS:
The last living man of the Juma people in Brazil has died from Covid-19. --03-15-21 TYPICAL AMERICAN IDIOTS = WANT OTHERS TO PAY FOR THEIR ABILITY TO LIVE AT BEACH—I HOPE THAT ______________:Tiny Town, Big Decision: What Are We Willing to Pay to Fight the Rising Sea? AVON, N.C. — Bobby Outten, a county manager in the Outer Banks, delivered two pieces of bad news at a recent public meeting. Avon, a town with a few hundred full-time residents, desperately needed at least $11 million to stop its main road from washing away. And to help pay for it, Dare County wanted to increase Avon’s property taxes, in some cases by almost 50%. Homeowners mostly agreed on the urgency of the first part. They were considerably less keen on the second. People gave Outten their own ideas about who should pay to protect their town: the federal government. The state government. The rest of the county. Tourists. People who rent to tourists. The view for many seemed to be, anyone but them. Outten kept responding with the same message: There’s nobody coming to the rescue. We have only ourselves. “We’ve got to act now,” he said. The risk to tiny Avon from climate change is particularly dire — it is, after all, located on a mere sandbar of an island chain, in a relentlessly rising Atlantic. But people in the town are facing a question that is starting to echo along the U.S. coastline as seas rise and storms intensify. What price can be put on saving a town, a neighborhood, a home where generations have built their lives? Communities large and small are reaching for different answers. Officials in Miami, Tampa, Houston, San Francisco and elsewhere have borrowed money, raised taxes or increased water bills to help pay for efforts to shield their homes, schools and roads. Along the Outer Banks — where tourist-friendly beaches are shrinking by more than 14 feet a year in some places, according to the North Carolina Division of Coastal Management — other towns have imposed tax increases similar to the one Avon is considering. On Monday, county officials will vote on whether Avon will join them. --03-15-21 BRAVO www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/biden-would-not-raise-taxes-on-anyone-making-less-than-dollar400000-white-house/ar-BB1eC6Dz?li=BBnb7Kz Biden would not raise taxes on anyone making less than $400,000: White HouseWASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden remains committed to his campaign pledge that no one earning less than $400,000 should see an increase in their taxes, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said on Monday. --03-15-21 LONG OVERDUE!!!: www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2021-03-15/texas-and-georgia-need-a-new-economic-model?srnd=premium Texas and Georgia Are Paying the Price for Sprawl

Some cities are paying people up to $16,000 to move there—this online directory will help you find them.Dozens of cities are offering up to $16,000 in cash incentives, homebuying allowances, tax credits and money toward local goods and services in hopes of enticing pandemic movers to relocate there. MakeMyMove.com, an online directory launched in December 2020, aims to connect remote workers with such offers around the country. City- and statewide workforce development groups have long incentivized new residents to move there, often by offering tax breaks and loan forgiveness when they buy a home. But with the pandemic spurring a wider acceptance of remote work, plus a greater affinity for physical space beyond dense urban areas, these programs are pushing recruitment into overdrive. Around 8.9 million people already moved between March and October 2020, up by 94,000 people from the year prior, and young professionals are the group most likely to relocate during the pandemic. --03-16-21 BRAVO: www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/3d-printed-homes-could-lead-to-a-revolution-in-real-estate/vi-BB1eE2E8 3D printed houses lead revolution in real estate
Prices for new homes are on the rise. But there's a new kind of home going on the market that some say could change that trend, reports CBS News' Michael George in Calverton, New York.
3D printed houses —partially built by a robotic construction system that stacks layers upon layers of concrete from the ground up to create the framework for a new home — are transforming the speed and cost at which houses are being developed and sold.
While the 3D printer can't do all the work, it can build about 40% of the structure before workers come in to finish the rest, according to Kirk Andersen, director of operations for SQ4D Inc., a 3D house printing company based in Patchogue on New York's Long Island.
"We should be able to do our part of the build in eight days or less," Anderson told CBS News, referring to a 1,900-square-foot structure currently being printed and soon to be turned into a model Long Island home.
SQ4D is developing a similar residence in Riverhead, New York, that is the first 3D printed house to be placed for sale in the U.S., according to 3Dnatives.
The three-bedroom, 1,400 square-foot house is listed for $299,000, about 80% the median cost of comparable homes in the area, which is around $370,000 according to Redfin real estate brokerage.--03-16-21: www.cnbc.com/2021/03/16/hydrogen-only-current-solution-to-decarbonize-some-industries-exec-says.html Hydrogen is currently the only solution to decarbonize some industries, RWE exec says. The International Energy Agency describes hydrogen as a “versatile energy carrier.” In recent years, a number of major industrial firms have announced plans to integrate “green” hydrogen into their operations. The incoming CEO of German utility RWE stressed on Tuesday the important role hydrogen could play in the decarbonization of energy intensive industries. Speaking to CNBC’s Joumanna Bercetche, Markus Krebber — who is currently RWE’s chief financial officer — described hydrogen as “definitely one of our long-term growth areas.” “What makes us so optimistic is that, currently, hydrogen is the only technical solution to decarbonize parts of … energy intensive industry, aviation, maritime, but also heavy-duty transportation,” Krebber said, adding that his company was “very well placed to play a very relevant role.” Described by the International Energy Agency as a “versatile energy carrier,” hydrogen has a diverse range of applications and can be deployed in sectors such as industry and transport. Hydrogen can be produced in a number of ways. One method includes using electrolysis, with an electric current splitting water into oxygen and hydrogen. If the electricity used in the process comes from a renewable source such as wind or solar then some describe it as “green” or “renewable” hydrogen. In recent years, a number of major industrial firms have announced plans to integrate green hydrogen into their operations. In addition, major economies such as the European Union have laid out plans to install at least 40 gigawatts (GW) of renewable hydrogen electrolyzers by 2030. --03-16-21: www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/could-the-alpha-wolf-bring-small-electric-trucks-back-to-the-future/ar-BB1eEoXq?li=BBnbfcL Could the Alpha Wolf Bring Small Electric Trucks Back to the Future?Times are changing, and the truck of the future very likely won't resemble the truck of the past. Hannun, 34, spent seven years working at Alphabet’s X lab (formerly Google X), known as the tech giant’s “moonshot factory.” She helped launch several projects, like Project Loon, more than one of which were shut down because they were deemed not commercially viable. The experience taught Hannun that she wanted to focus her energy on ambitious innovations that are ready to be scaled and brought to market. It led her to geothermal heat pumps, which she started working on at X with a project called Tiny Lime. In 2017, Hannun and another X colleague, James Quazi, spun out Tiny Lime into start-up, Dandelion Energy. In February, Dandelion announced it has raised $30 million in a funding round led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, the clean energy investment fund started by Bill Gates which includes money from Jeff Bezos, Michael Bloomberg, Ray Dalio, and others. Now Hannun and Dandelion are working to take geothermal heat pumps, an energy-saving way of heating and cooling homes, mainstream. They are doing this by making it easier and cheaper for people to have geothermal heat pumps installed in their homes, allowing homeowners to move on from furnace systems that rely on oil, natural gas and propane. --03-17-21 HUGE BRAVO: www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/the-great-green-wall-a-5000-mile-living-barrier-to-hold-back-the-worlds-largest-desert/ar-BB1eFLbK?li=BBnbfcL The Great Green Wall: A 5,000-mile living barrier to hold back the world's largest desert.

Two hundred women belong to the "Nanandiral Antent Koyly" (the Women's Association of Koyly) and care for tens of thousands of seedlings that will be planted over 5 hectares in the region.
They are paid 55.000CFA per season and planted 71,650 seedlings this past season alone with a 42% survival rate. The Great Green Wall project is an $8 billion plan to plant drought resistant trees along 4,815 miles across the edge of the Sahara Desert, an effort to combat the diminishing Sahel.

The Sahel region, a semi-arid belt that acts as a buffer zone just south of the desert, is most affected.
Water, already scarce, is becoming scarcer. Soil quality is deteriorating, and a lack of vegetation is leading to food insecurity. The UN estimates roughly 135 million people who depend on these degraded lands are at risk.
