Lucas Luetge had his first rough outing today. Does that hurt his chances to make the team? Baseball people usually look less favorably on walks than solo home runs. While Luetge was finally scored upon, he didn’t issue any free passes, and he added another two strikeouts to his Spring total: 15 Ks in 7.2 innings is a formidable line. He deserves a spot, in my opinion, especially with Britton’s surgery. I’m still hung up on Justin Wilson having an automatic spot because he was a free agent signing, but the Yankees obviously like his resume and targeted him for a reason. I’m hoping that their high speed cameras and stat geeks prove my non-professional opinion wrong and The Cajun Chef ends up lights out this season. I saw the signing for Wilson as a middle innings guy. He’s hard to hit, keeps the ball in the park and walks too many guys to be given too much responsibility. Then, with Britton out (my favorite reliever), the rules must change I suppose... |
