I agree. We lose our one backup defender at shortstop and at every other position except pitcher and catcher. Also, we lose the fastest guy on the team, who can steal a base and score from second, even on a moderate single to a strong armed right fielder, which we saw last series with Santander. At least Dietrich was a lefty with pop who could play second, third, first, and the outfield. Odor is really just a second baseman. And by most accounts, an average at best second baseman. In 2019, he was ranked 12th out of 14 second basemen according to Fangraphs, I believe.

I don’t think he’s bad necessarily, he’s just not a great defender, which makes his paltry batting average and on base percentage problematic and his occasional power less valuable.

Apparently Gio is the backup SS now and "will start when Torres needs a day off"

Concur with all of the above. Once again, great minds thinking alike.

I keep forgetting the name of the guy who always wanted to know what percentage of fans were rooting for the visiting team. Big country or blue country, something like that? "Sounds like a road game out there." He was a scream.

The Blue Country/Rain Man thing is pure art, Kaybli. Thanks for a huge laugh.
I don't suppose we could get him back for a guest appearance.

For those who went to the games, I had a couple of questions. If you would not mind, could you answer? Thanks!
1) Were there a lot of Yankee fans there? -How many, what percent, would you say were Yankee fans?
2) Was this the normal amount? -If not, what is? -Were there much more due to the Sox being eliminated?
3) How did this compare to when the Red Sox are Yankee Stadium? -Did the Yankees bring a similar, greater, or smaller turnout? -In particular…how did it sound compared to the Red Sox visit to NYY last week?
4) On TV, it looked and sounded like the Yankees had a good amount of fans. However, it still wasn’t a “huge” amount like maybe what the Red Sox would have at NYY were the Red Sox alive and the Yankees finished. -I would have thought there would have been more, given the Yanks are a big rival, play nearby, are in the biggest market, and given the Red Sox being out. -Was this the case or was it deceivingly low?
5) I heard the Yanks only have 5-10% normally of Fenway but the Sox have 25-40% of Yankee Stadium. -Is this true? -I heard on the Sox worst day at Yankee Stadium fanbase wise, that is the best the Yankees draw at Fenway. Is this the case or do the Yankees draw much better at Fenway than stated?
Thanks!

Oh man, I almost weep for joy. He was a genuine pure-blooded eccentric. What made the whole thing funnier was how some other posters would get really angry with him. Great post and thanks again Kaybli.

If we could only know the truth. We might find out that the man we know as Blue Country is a highly respected researcher that world leaders and high dollar executives have turn to for years to make all of their most pertinent decisions for the past 50-60 years. On the Middle East forum it might be, “which side launched the most rockets today? Was there any difference in the size of the rockets?
