Screw you Arizona for not paying the price to keep your playoff roster together!
Serioulsy, we know Boston is always going to try and improve their roster, just like the Yankees do.

I don't think it's such a big deal. Martinez was a good player before last season. He suddenly got a bug up his ass at 30 and hit 45 HR in 119 games. Can he do it again? I dunno, but when it comes to power, I don't see Boston competing with Stanton, Judge, Sanchez, Bird, and Didi...It may seem far-fetched, but that quintet could hit almost 200 among them if all breaks right...Then you add in a few more from whomever at 2B-3B, and whichever Gardner and /or Hicks we get...It's also hard to say how many of Martinez' HRs are going to clank off that wall in left field for singles and doubles...I read that he hit 3 oppo HR of 425+ last season, which is almost what he'll have to do to hit one out that way in Boston...

Damn, I was hoping he'd re-sign with the Diamondbacks. Oh well, let's see how he does in the pressure cooker of Boston.

I hope he works out as well as the last J. D. that played in Boston...

Yes. Nancy could hit, field and throw quite well. He also took walks, and that more significantly aided his OPS than his moderate power did. The constant boo-boos were a source of consternation for the locals and a source of fodder for the press, but he was indeed a pretty darned good player when he was on the field. On the other hand, at this point I think if JD Martinez has an OPS of .873 there will be gnashing of teeth in Boston, as the goal is to offset the Yankees acquisition of Stanton. My greatest hope is that Stanton can stay on the field and not be knick-named "Ginny-Carlo Stanton" by the Boston masses...or NY masses. Or the press asses. Did I leave a letter out of that one? No...

On MLB network, they say JD ranks in the top 4 hitters in the past 3 years... The other names being Trout, Stanton, and Votto... His only problem being he can't stay on the field...

Over same period... Votto- 163 312/442/539/982 Trout- 175 301/413/579/992 Stanton- 154 271/366/573/939
Very Stanton-esque... Not quite Votto/Trout, but who is?

For shits and giggles, Harper 148 292/403/534/937 I wonder why he wasn't on MLB Networks list

He's actually missed a whopping 127 games over that same period...and that includes 2015 when he played in 158 games...Of course, we face a similar issue with Stanton, so...let's keep our fingers crossed...

I was gonna say they had a counting stat and both Stanton and JD were a lot lower than Votto and Trout... Stanton and JD was similar too in the counting stat section... I think it was WRC.. I also wonder why Harper wasn't on the graphic.. but yeah, I didn't realize how similar JD and Stanton were.. got me to thinking, we're all under rating the Sox.. I think they're the team to beat in the AL East not the Yankees... hope I'm wrong!! Can't fucking wait for the games to start.. LET'S GO APRIL!!!

Martinez had exceptional year last year in relation to his career trend. He can flat out hit, but last year he was Stanton-like. We'll see if he can duplicate that. We'll also see if some of his HR's clank off that funky wall in LF...or get lost in the depths of that weird RCF triangle area...I'm not too concerned about him...We have a murderer's row type of line up that they can't match in HR pop...Our top 5 HR hitters might hit 200 without help from anyone else in the line up...Unheard of in baseball history!
