I also see this game on the ESPN+ schedule. I guess we’ll all find it somewhere...

Jay Bruce just retired, so the Yanks have an open roster sport. Bruce had a good career, I wish him good luck in retirement.

Bruce will be active for today's game and then that's it.

He did indeed have a nice career and appeared to be highly-regarded by his teammates, most recently with Aaron Judge singing his praises. But for sure he looked like a spent force and this looks like a wise decision which obviously opens up a roster spot.
By the way, no matter how low your opinion of the human race, it will plummet even further if you wade into the cesspool of Twitter. I have never signed up for it, but I went to the Rosenthal link to read Bruce's statement, which was quite warm and generous. The comments were a nauseating flood of human excrement.

You're right about Twitter. I only used it for news updates and to keep up with some of my running buddies. The comments section of tweets are a disgrace and are usually should be ignored.

You're right as usual Chi. I have so rarely gone there that I was a little taken aback.

I hope Bruce gets one more chance at an AB and puts one into the right field seats.

Bruce will be active for today's game and then that's it. Always sad to see someone retire. Hopefully we are up big, we give him one last at bat, and he goes deep one final time...

You could tell something was up with Bruce all of a sudden he's out of the lineup and not talked about for like a week.

You could tell something was up with Bruce all of a sudden he's out of the lineup and not talked about for like a week. It had become common knowledge around the league that Bruce had lost the ability to get around on the fastball. He was seeing plenty of them, and he wasn’t hitting them. I wish #320 for him today. I wish he could have done what the Yankees wanted him to do, but when it’s over, it’s over...

I didn’t know Bruce was from Beaumont, Texas. My favorite aunt and uncle lived in nearby Nederland for about 60 years. During college, I took off a year to work near Beaumont at a company that made heat exchangers. The pro golfer Bruce Leitzke once worked there before making it on tour. While there, I joined their company softball team and played in the industrial league. Great bunch of guys. There was a fantastic hamburger joint that we always frequented before or after games...something like Novrozsky’s.
