Perhaps not the right thread but here is my solution for fixing the Yankees(at least a little bit). Move Hicks to 6th in the lineup. If his hitting doesn't improve sit him beside Boone and start Gardner or Tauchmann. I realize Gardner doesn't have much of an arm and Tauchmann is not exactly raking at the plate but Hicks defense is costing the Yankees and the way we are hitting we can't afford to give up runs. Bring up Ford and move DJ to second. Think Odor for his service and if possible trade him for a bag of balls. Put Garcia in the rotation. I like Wade but if he is not able to help this team the way things are going don't we have somebody on the farm that could be the utility guy? We can't "blow up" the team, but a few small moves might help. Really, it’s still so early in the season. Hicks is off to a very unfortunate start, and yes, he did had a couple of uncharacteristic fumbles in the field yesterday. Tauchman has only had 7 at bats in which to demonstrate his raking ability, and Wade only 3. It’s hard to figure what they might offer. I wouldn’t mind seeing Tauchman get a bit of time either, but does he play for Hicks or Frazier? Frazier hasn’t looked so good either. I think they’re going to give Odor a bit more time, though I don’t see him as the solution at 2B, either. We’d love to see 2019 Ford at first base right now, but 2020 Ford wouldn’t help. I think the only solution right now is to be patient. That’s not easy at this point, but this week should be a time to start seeing some bats come alive... Another turn through the rotation may show improvement as well... For whatever reason Cashman did not include me on the Zoom call so I would hope he reads this board and will take my suggestions. It is early and I don't think we will have a 162 game 9 man slump. It remains frustrating to me that Odor hasn't hit in years and he is apparently our every day second baseman. I agree if that is the case no point in bringing up Ford(couldn't we bring up the 2019 Ford?). I also realize some of the moves I suggest might be like moving deck chairs on the Titanic. I just wish we had more options.

Find somebody to kidnap Stanton so we could get a big lefty bat to DH. Get a real SS. Lindor would be fine. I don’t care where Torres was, just somewhere else... I’d take Andrelton Simmons at SS, even Freddy Galvis at this point. Wonder if he could play without his dreads? Nah. Just be patient. Stanton is starting to stir a little bit. DJ is steady. Gleyber might run into a couple fastballs soon... Hicks will at least double his season hits output this week... Gary is due for a couple long balls. I feel it. The awakening is coming...Jobs will be on the line soon. That’s motivation!

I don't think Ford is the answer to anything.

I don't think Ford is the answer to anything. That may be true, but given his flash in the pan numbers in 2019, and given that it’s not fair to judge anyone on 2020 numbers, it’s reasonable to think that he might outhit Odor at this point, allowing our gold glove second baseman to go back to second base. In fact, I would have chosen to do that rather than to acquire Odor. It should only be a few more weeks before we see Voit back. At that point what do we do with Odor? God, when IS Voit due back? We need that bat. It’s more dependable than Judges or Stanton’s bat. The only one more dependable Is DJ... Ford still has 14 HR in 217 AB... the average is ugly, but welcome to the Yankees, son...

We are paying him 30 million a year for what ten years? If he is this bad now, what will be it like in ten years.
New rule. No contracts over 7 years.

Far too many bad streaks. I am afraid his value versus his contract is going to make Ellsbury’s contract look like walking around money.

I don’t know about Stanton though. Far too many bad streaks. I am afraid his value versus his contract is going to make Ellsbury’s contract look like walking around money. It’s certainly scary right now. There’s an old standard about baseball that says that team that is playing poorly is never as bad as they look tgat a team that is playing well is never as good as look. For the most part that holds true, and it also tends to hold true for individual players. Of course there are exceptions as players age at different rates and for different reasons. Jay Bruce was finished. That happens at some point in every career. I don’t think we’ll never see the 59 home run Stanton again. Maybe we’ll still see the 30 homer version, or a 20 homer version that needs to be platooned. The next 25 games will take us to the quarter pole of this season and will be very revealing of potential realities...
