If we don't have anyone in the minors who can play 2d base and hit over .125 or a LF or CF who can hit over .170, we're gonna be bad for a long time. This might be the worst hitting Yankee team in my lifetime. And that covers a fair amount of ground. They may as well bring Gittens up to play first. He will definitely hit balls over the fence while hitting no worse for an average. But from what I’ve seen, he also ain’t Gittens to many grounders... 😜 |

But we didn't expect much from that crew. We have loftier hopes for this bunch. Those were bad teams. |

But Roy White was a decent hitter, the much maligned Horace Clarke hit about double or more than our current 2b and Bobby Murcer snuck in there somewhere. But, they weren't hitting on much. Bet they didn't strike out 12+ times a game, though. |

The reason they are 7th in runners left on base is that they’re are no runners getting on base. We started 5 players today hitting .200 or less. Some of the lowlights of our starters are staggering. It is one thing not hitting but the nonchalance some of our players are showing is appalling. I’m not a huge fan of Boone but he has nowhere to turn. In years past we have had a lot of injuries but not so many this year. There are apparently no stars waiting in the wings. Our wins will have to be because our players start performing. Surely 9 players can’t slump all year can they? |
