Right now of course we are not hitting enough for this to matter.
I always wondered. When the shift is on if you bunt it down the third base line its a hit maybe a double. And if you start doing it there will be no shift.
So why don't batters faced by the shift bunt?
By view is they can't. They literally don't know how

They literally don't know how It hasn’t been a part of the MLB game in so long that they don’t even practice it in the minor leagues. No, many players don’t know how to bunt, nor to place hit to the opposite field. Hitting is a lost art. The game has become slugging. I don’t like it. Never did. Always figured a balanced team win ball games. The Yankees are way out of balance. We need to work on it... there may not be time to turn it around this season. Interesting to see what will happen at the trading deadline if things don’t change drastically...

They literally don't know how And Russ... the less offense there is in the game, the more important bunting (for hits or otherwise) becomes. Stolen bases, too...
