Field Marshal Montgomery battles his way out. Who plays the "Desert Fox"? Hmm. Maybe Mullins?

Torres just watches strike three. These guys are not proficient guess hitters.

In Alexandria Egypt we stayed at the Cecil Hotel, which was Monty's headquarters for awhile during the El Alamein campaign. The bar there is called Monty's.

Thinking of Mullins, not that they're the same guy other than in terms of potential, but remember Orioles outfielder Jeffrey Hammonds? He was one of the most highly-touted prospects in all of baseball. He tore up his knee, and while he did have some decent years, he never got to where his skills might have taken him.

Monty almost didn’t make it out of WWI. He was shot through the lung by a sniper so severely that a grave had been dug for him. Different breed of humans. Tough, resilient.

We lived quite a few years in the Middle East, and we took full advantage. Egypt is an unbelievable place to visit, but a lot of travelers don't bother with Alexandria. It's beautiful. We took a drive out to the El Alamein battlefield. Didn't see a single other visitor.

Great memory, Pipps! Hammonds was a good looking young ball player.
