On a slow day the release of Josh Breaux stands out. It’s a shame a guy like that with a pretty good amount of natural talent couldn’t make his game work out.
I can’t recall the name of the kid that hit about 430-450 foot HR the day I watched Staten Island play way back.., but I was impressed. Matt Snyder’s father was behind me in the stands and was really impressed. Patrick Reale was there that day and he wasn’t impressed by the kid at all. He said something like
“There are a million kids in the country that can do that. But it takes more than that to be a big leaguer. That one will never make it.”
And he was right. When you read Pat’s interviews, they were always the syrupy, over-positive articles that you have to write if you want to continue to have access, so to hear that come out of his mouth was quite surprising.
What was that kid’s name now? Was it Sal? Sal Something? I don’t think it was exactly Sal, but like Sal it could be applied to either gender. Big fella. First baseman. It think it was the later 1990’s…
I might have to look through some old Staten Island rosters to solve this one…but it seems to apply here. A kid that was just missing that extra special ingredient. So he goes back home and has to find another way to make his living…

58 ER's and 16 Hr's in 74 innings! Yep ... He's no longer a prospect and not even tradeable ... much like Pereira and Peraza Just take them off the list and stop pretending

It's been a rough year for our prospects, particularly those who might have helped at some point this season. Top prospects who are either injured or having down years include: Dominguez, Jones, Hampton, Beeter, Warren, Periera, Perazza although Jones looks like he's heating up.

I think Rice and Ramirez are 2 previously underrated propsects that could help this season. Ramirez and Rice hard contact low K rate make them very likely to succeed ... Also Vivas, now that he is healthy is another solid option for a callup. He is built in a similar mold ... high OBP low K rate. I think he would have all ready been here if it werent for the freak injury in preseason I think they Yankees should be heavily shopping Trevino and hand the reins to Wells, Ramirez and Rice. Try to package him with Peraza/Cabrera, and a decent pitching prospect for a 3rd baseman or Solid Closer I'd like to see Cabrera packaged as well while he still has some value ... Most peopel probablt dont realize how bad he has been because of his hot start. his last 46 games (since he came back to earth) .199 .248 .267 .515

58 ER's and 16 Hr's in 74 innings! I was a believer. I thought he should have gotten the call instead of Gil this spring. I don’t know what’s happened to him, but I know what happened to me. I was wrong…
