Spencer Jones is what Florial was with more wind generation. What are we doing hugging him? Waiting until his value disappears and we can get a dumpster reliever for him? I hope we deal him this winter for something better. Let him bat .180 somewhere else…

I have high hopes for Roderick Arias and George Lombard Jr, but they have a lot of growing pains to go through.

Let him bat .180 somewhere else… I've been saying this since the beginning of the season ... 37% k Rate in AA does not translate to the MLB at all I have the same concern about Arias in low A ball with a 31% k rate ... look how Lombard Jr struggled at the next level (difference is he always had a low K rate and was able to adjust) Look for Arias' K rate to spike at the next level Both Jones and Arias should be dealt before it's too late

But, it's not too late for them to learn to lower those K-rates. As for trading them, as always, it depends on what players the Yankees can get in return. My guess is that they won't have much trade value unless some scouts think they can lower their K-rate.
Just my 2 cents, but since it's early in their careers and both players have so much potential, the Yankees shouldn't trade them. Unless, of course, the trade favors the Yankees. I know it was just Spring Training, but Jones has showed that at times he can hit for power and not strikeout much.

The Saturday farm report from Tom Kosensky. Caleb Durbin returns with a bang, J.C. Escarra homers for the 4th game in a row (homers), Ben Rice homers for the third game in a row, Spencer Jones homers and doubles and Clayton Beeter returns from the DL. Also, my new favorite Yankee prospect name is Diomedes Hernandez. tomkosensky.com/2024/09/07/yankees-milb-9-7-spencer-jones-doubles-homers/

Good stuff. Easy to forget that at one point Rice had a per 162 game average of 22 HR and 88 RBI before the wheels came off. And he never pouted when they did come off…

2 players that might help the Yankees in 2025 are Ben Shields and converted pitcher Brett Phillips.

2 players that might help the Yankees in 2025 are Ben Shields and converted pitcher Brett Phillips. I agree with Shields. Except for an emergency start for Scranton, he's pitched well. For a guy who wasn't even drafted, he's put himself in a good position to help next season by already throwing over 100 innings. Phillips is work in progress. He didn't fare well in his first appearance, but the Yanks like his arm.
