I’m liking Rafael Flores. How’s his game behind the plate? … I believe it's solid. He was an unsigned JUCO player who played mostly at catcher. The Yanks like their C/1B hybrids and he was able to make a seamless transition in learning first. One big thing about his game is his power is starting to show up. Tom Kosensky said today not count him out of the first base battle next season. www.milb.com/player/rafael-flores-804668

Many thanks to Marse Kosensky for his hard work during the season, and to you, Matt for sharing his work with us. It’s been a great season. One during which we were treated to so many new things. Even a case of Ocean Gabonia. If Jones isn’t dealt away over the winter, it’s gonna be time for the rubber to meet the road. I’m hoping Durbin and Rice are a part of the parent club…

Thanks for posting these all season, desousa! Much appreciated! Agree, one of my favorite threads. Desousa, I've notived Beeters is pitching again. How has he looked. I still think he could be a decent BP guy.

I’m hoping Durbin and Rice are a part of the parent club… IMO Chisholm has looked very good at 3B...should get even better with more work there. 2B is Durbin's "best" position. Your suggestion of moving Gleyber to 1B is interesting. He's relatively consistent against both RHP/LHP...more power vs LHP. So, where would that leave Rice? Suppose he could backup Wells, but both LH bats.

He’s left as trade bait, or we dump Gleyber… Rice could bring back a decent return…

one of my favorite threads as well.
agree that w more reps chisholm could become very good at 3B. athletic and has a strong arm.
regarding 2B, been a long-time supporter of gleyber despite all the "static" and think he may have salvaged his free agency w this run since moving to the lead-off spot even though his power numbers are down significantly. maybe as fans we don't care how much a player makes but just don't see management, particularly w the soto situation, being willing to spend the $18 mil/yr (pulled that # out of my butt) when they feel they have viable, cost effective replacements in durbin (my pick) or peraza.
similar at 1B. rizzo's done nothing to warrant picking up his option. right now, rice, who's done as much as he can at triple A, is the logical choice. he does need to show that he's made the adjustments to play on the big club. not sure whether gleyber coud do it but again think the money would come into play for him.

I still think he could be a decent BP guy. He's pitched well since his return, but it's been out of the bullpen, which is where many baseball people think he will end up.

My gut feeling is Yanks will let Gleyber go and insert a low-cost alternative (Durbin?) at 2B. I do believe Gleyber when he says he absolutely wants to remain a Yankee, and might even give them a reasonable home town discount. I'm glad to see he's resurrected his season, which should earn him a decent contract with another team.
