Durbin reminds me of a young Brett Gardner. Always finds a way to contribute. Durbinism? May become my next religion… I saw Gardner play at Tampa and he was unbelievable. Getting hits, stealing bases, and making good plays in the OF. He was fast. Definitely the fastest guy on the field that day. I didn't know it yet, this was my introduction to the Church of Gardnerism.

I hope they give Durbin a shot. He just gets on base. Resigning or not resigning Soto will have a domino effect 1st, 2nd, 3rd and an OF position.

Yep...the only concern, as it is with all prospects, is whether his AAA performance continues when/if he's promoted. Won't know until he's given the opportunity. I'd be surprised in Yanks don't resign Soto. I think it's a given both Verdugo & Rizzo will be gone, so they'd have relatively inexpensive players at catcher, 3B, SS & LF which, IMO, means they could move Gleyber to 1B and slot Durbin in at 2B.

As much as I like Durbin at this point, I like those backup options a lot better than handing both Durbin & Rice the jobs on the right side and hoping for the best. I've seen some speculation that Yanks could sign Bregman at 3B, which I don't like at all. If $$$ is the determining factor, Gleyber will come at lot "cheaper" than Bregman.

Alex Bregman is an LSU boy, but this could be another DJ LeMahieu situation after a season or two. Speaking of LeMahieu, another LSU boy, I would prefer to have someone like Berti, but two more years remain on DJ's contract.

In addition to a wealth of in-state talent (Belle, Nola brothers, etc.) it also attracts and recruits top high school players from across the country, including Colorado high school standout Kevin Gausman. Most fans know that he and Greg Bird were high school teammates. Actually, I had forgotten about DJ when thinking of next year's infield. IMO, 1B is the only position he can play, so unless the Yanks can work something out they'll have to work him in somehow. I've been a fan of DJ since his Rockies days, but a 6 year contract at age 32 didn't make a lot of sense. As I've said several times, 4 yrs@$20M would probably have gotten the job done, but Yanks are always concerned with the LT.

Looks like Durbin is getting comfortable and adjusted to the fall league. After all his injuries in 2024, it's great that he's getting these extra AB's.

I think DJ has more left in the tank than his injury-marred season showed last year. He just never seemed to get timed up last year…

I’m not gonna bet the house on it, and I don’t mean he’d be an everyday player. Just a decent bat off the bench to add some depth…covering 1B/3B here and there, pinch hitting. Certainly NOT pinch running…😂

Antonio Gomez was behind the plate and went 1-4, including 2 RBI and a couple of K's.
