I'm wearing a Sanchez shirt right now for some reason. I need to get me a Higgy one. I’d still like to see stupid Gary get hot... The weather will change, and he’ll be sweating in the dugout.

So, I’m putting myself in the place of a kid in school in the Olde English Society right now. He has a homework assignment to write the letter “D”. He’s been working on it for three hours so far and he’s thrown away 64 sheets of papyrus. His dad’s on his ass because papyrus isn’t cheap, and they had a poor crop of berries this year to make ink... if the kid doesn’t pass penmanship this semester there’s gonna be hell to pay because he’s not going pass on to the next row in the school house... You look at that lettering and think about us talking about “penmanship” the other day... we have NO clue... My ancestors couldn’t afford papyrus and ink. They had sticks and sand.

My teacher gave me hell for always using red ink until she saw me biting my finger and writing with it...

When they said we had to have a # 2 pencil, I thought... well, I made my own and brought it to school. Thank goodness it was firm...

A little tidbit about Jack Clark, who was mentioned here on one of our threads yesterday : Jack Clark
via TheBigLead.com During the late '70s and early '80s, Jack Clark quickly became known as one of the best, and most feared, hitters in the game. For his career, he averaged 28 home runs, 96 runs batted in, 91 runs, 27 doubles, and hit for 0.267 over a 162 game season. He spent 18 years in the majors and played for the Giants, Cardinals, Yankees, Padres, and Red Sox. The four time All-Star reached his peak in 1987 when he hit 35 home runs with 106 runs batted in.
By the time he left baseball, Jack Clark had created a major problem for himself because of his love of automobiles. And not just any automobiles, he loved luxury vehicles. At one point, he ended up with 17 car notes, all luxury cars, and had to declare bankruptcy in 1992.
20 years later, he got fired from his radio talk show gig after accusing Albert Pujols of using performance-enhancing drugs, PEDs.
