I think Trader Jack took the Padres to the 84 series. Chi, I just looked it up. Dick Williams managed the 84 Padres who lost to the Tigers in the WS. On baseball reference it says the 81 Expos were managed by Dick Williams and Jim Fanning. So maybe there's the source of the confusion with the strike that year and all.

Hicks and Sanchez are hopeless. I always thought the Yankees over-rated Hicks. But I've been reluctant to throw in the towel with Sanchez because of his high ceiling. But I'm ready to look for a reasonable deal for him. This has gone on too long.

Okay, I did the deep dive. Williams managed the 1981 Expos from opening day until September 7, when he was fired and replaced by Jim Fanning for the last few weeks.
