The long time Met and portsider Steven Matz has a 4.69 ERA and has given up 7 home runs thus far this season. In his last start, he surrendered 10 hits and 5 earned runs in 6 innings; however, Matz averages better than a strikeout an inning and is capable of throttling any lineup, as he did on May 14 with 5 shutout innings and 9 strikeouts against the Phillies. Matz’ success is not greatly affected by either righty or lefty hitters, and his stuff plays on the road as well as at home.

My 5:30 appointment today says that if things go well, Matz may be out of the game by the time I tune in. It’s an hour from here, too... see you guys around the 5th or 6th inning...I guess.
