I think there is more than a little reason to be concerned.....and it is no over-reacting to feel that way....it's not as if we haven't seen this before..... someone said he worked on holding runners and throwing to bases in the off-season....really? He would only need to catch a few of these guys leaving early, and they would stop........if he won't or can't throw to a glove holding a runner, he will be drummed out of baseball........I hope the Yanks put him on the DL, and send him to work on stepping off to stop a runner, and then throwing to bases from the stretch...........maybe 10,000 repetitions in an attempt to save his career.....he may be the slowest guy to the plate I can remember, and has to find a way to stop guys from leaving early...... [img src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/oaXqHlbqQrmcGRtEJfig.gif" class="smile" alt=" "] It would be a shame if he let this setback push him out of baseball. He has such nasty stuff. That breaking ball he throws is ridiculous. indeed, it would be a terrible shame....but, it is not unprecedented....perhaps he is mentally tough enough to confront the issue and learn to hold runners while still able to get outs,... I hope so .....for most of us, it seems a simple matter....step off and throw to the base....we wonder why can't everyone do that?....Betances has a problem doing that and we cannot understand the mental issue he clearly has.........I am pulling for the guy, but surely the Yankees cannot let the present situation remain without being addressed.....at the least, he has to step off the rubber without throwing to the base when a runner dances way off......

He could try throwing left-handed...But since that's probably gonna knock is fast ball down to about 50 MPH...
He could step off the mound and walk directly toward the runner. With his long legs he'd be pretty close after a couple of steps...
He simply has to do something different from what he's doing. In the case of the stolen plate by Pillar yesterday, he wasn't even paying any attention to him until he was about 2/3 of the way home...
I don't think he even looks them back often enough...

Glad it's against the rules to steal first base.

Glad it's against the rules to steal first base. A bunt is kind of an attempted steal of 1B... if you think about it

Coley Harvey ESPN Staff Writer
Yankees have another player going on the 10-day disabled list. This time, it's a pitcher. Righty Ben Heller was sent to the DL (retroactive to last Tuesday) with an elbow bone spur. His minor league option was voided. Yankees also officially announce the signing of lefty pitcher Oliver Perez to a minor league deal last Friday. Manager Aaron Boone said today the Yankees are getting better news on reliever Adam Warren (right ankle bruise) than they originally expected. He could pitch again this week after taking a comebacker off the leg Saturday.

Wow, Ollie Perez. He's thought of as a lefty specialist these days, but in reality he's equally crappy against all hitters...Oh well, deep depth...

In this version of you've got to be fucking kidding me... Ellsbury injured again.... This time he injured his hip... Can't we just put him out to pasture? Seems like he don't wanna play this season...

I'm good with it. I was in favor of releasing him and paying him to stay away. Paying him to be in pain, at least I get something for "my" money, right???

Definitely time to put him out of our misery. Guy is made of glass tied together with tissue paper.

From RAB:
Injury Updates: Cashman's Guy (intercostal) hit off a tee yesterday and he’s scheduled to take about 80 swings today. The Yankees are pretty confident Cashman's Guy will return once his ten days on the disabled list are up … Adam Warren (ankle) is over the bruise and is available.

FROM RAB:
Injury Updates: Aaron Hicks (intercostal) will play in minor league rehab games with Triple-A Scranton on Sunday and Monday. Presumably he would then rejoin the Yankees on Tuesday, for the first game in Boston … Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique, hip) is in New York today to see a specialist about the hip. His rehab work for the oblique is somehow going backwards.
