Dan Petry was a guest in the booth with the Tigers broadcasting team. He made a statement that he did not recall ever giving up a hit on a 3-1 count. He remembers getting plenty of outs on 3-0, but cannot remember a hit.
You know me, I had to look that up. On 3-0 pitches, Petry allowed one hit in four at bats in his entire career. I think that to be astounding, but more so is that there were 69 such at bats and he finished off the walk 65 times, for a .250/.957/.250 slash line... yeah Dan, plenty of outs... 🤓

Amazing how many of these guys are sub 200 still Most of them are even worse with RISP. Frazier is like 3 for 25 in those situations. |
